Chiropractic Adjustments
Importantly, Chiropractic adjustments cause changes within the nerve system as well. Because each adjustment sends a burst of electrical activity to the brain and the brain in turn responds by calming muscles spasms and messages that flow from the painful spine to the brain quiet down. Spinal Adjustments
Today, there are many different methods to “adjust” the spine. Nonetheless, spinal manipulation by hand is still the mainstay of chiropractic and adheres to chiropractic’s origins. Dr. Marks uses manual chiropractic spinal adjustments gently yet effectively to relieve pain. Obviously, knowing how and where to adjust the spine is all part of the “art of chiropractic.” And so it takes great skill to perform an effective and gentle adjustment.
Stretching
Subluxation
Chiropractic care revolves around what is called the “ chiropractic adjustment.” Hence, since the beginning of chiropractic in the late 1800’s, chiropractors have devised ways to detect problems with spinal function, called “subluxations” and then restore normal function by using the hands. A thrust, or focused amount of pressure is applied to the stuck or malfunctioning spinal segment to unlock it. Once the spinal bones are free to move, often pain associated with the subluxation is relieved.
