Outstanding care

I've been going here for twenty years and have seen several different doctors there when I needed to be seen urgently. The staff is always friendly and the doctors practice conservative medicine. My wife developed cataracts that limited her vision, but Dr. Whitted did not rush her into having cataract surgery. She was very ill at the time, and he and my wife agreed that she needed to focus on her illness first; she could have cataract surgery whenever she was ready. I've recommended this practice to many of my friends.

Poor Service

I have no complaints of Dr. Jackson at the Giles St. location. I found her to be a caring doctor. The first time I was in there for my appointment I was willing to give the receptionist the benefit of the doubt about her lack of friendliness and the optician herself was not so friendly. However, when I went in there to pick up my glasses it was even worse. When I walked in the receptionist asked me if I was there for an appointment but not in friendly way. i told her I was there to pick up glasses. She told the optician lady who said she will have to wait because I am looking something up, ok fair enough. The receptionist did help me but that's where her customer service ended. She handed me my glasses to try on and I said they were fine, she then got up to leave. I asked her for a case for my glasses, she gave it to me to put my glasses in but I was holding my infant granddaughter.. With my one available hand I put the glasses into the case. Oh yes, while I was there a male walked in and was greeted with a smile and a how can I help you, the optician help him right away. I have never written a review before but felt that these two particular people should have some training in dealing with people of color. I will not go here again.

Caring & Competent

Have been going to this clinic for the past 18 years. The doctors are most caring and personable and extremely competent, never pushy in the least. My wife has had catarac surgery by Dr. Halstad. He is a super person as well a a fine surgeon.

Poor experiance

I had a bad experience with this group. I went in for an eye exam to update my contact lenses and eyeglasses. During the portion of the exam where they dilated the eyes, the light used to was so bright it hurt. The doctor didn't even seam to care. He made derogatory comments regarding my vision and age. He insisted that I should have bifocals, though I was not having problems reading. (I'm with a new doctor and he stated that I don't need bifocals yet.) I had to make multiple trips back to the office because the contact lenses just didn't work right. (The new doctor fit new lenses on me perfectly the first time.) Finally what is the REAL clincher, they did not charge my insurance properly so I had to pay the FULL RETAIL price for my glasses. (I just went through new doctor for glasses and the price I paid with that office was about fifty percent less.) Granted my experience is a bit old as I went to that place two years ago. But I definitely know I will NEVER go back!

Midwest Eye Care

Dr Halstead is just wonderful. Very personable, extremely patient, and very good at what he does. Extremely talented eye surgeon. Highly recommended! Worth the wait as well.
