The Washington State Human Rights Commission, also known as WSHRC, enforces law against discrimination. It works to prevent and eliminate discrimination by investigating civil rights complaints and providing education and training opportunities for citizens. Established in 1949 by the Washington State Legislature, the commission is a state agency. The Washington State Human Rights Commission prohibits discriminatory practices in the areas of employment and accommodation. In addition, it conducts fair housing and real estate acts. The commission organizes educational sessions and training seminals.
