I heard The Mule served Fried Watonga Cheese Cheddar Curds. Circumstances put me close so “Why not?”

Its tucked away on a quiet street with a couple of other eating places. Not a lot of parking. There is outside seating. Entrance on the west side.

Entering, I saw a hostess stand and the kitchen. To the left of that was a long bar with TVs. The dining area to my left had ample seating. On the wall were two huge menu boards. It was late afternoon and there were only a handful of customers. I liked the cozy atmosphere…not too quiet and not too loud.

I was greeted by the waitress who quickly seated me. She recommended the special and gave me a few minutes to look at the menu. I looked at the menu and there they were, the whole reason for my being there…Fried Watonga Cheese Curds. I decided on them and a sandwich (Sandie on the menu) BCLT - Sourdough Bread, Pecan Smoked Bacon, Gouda, Gruyere, Lettuce, Tomato, and Mayonnaise. I added Avocado for extra charge. For my side I added the SPINACH SALAD - Fresh Spinach, Red Onion, Blue Cheese Crumbles, Pear Slices, Candied Brittle Bacon, and Balsamic Vinaigrette.

The fried Watonga Cheese curds came quickly. They were a generous heaping, helping presented on a paper lined plate, accompanied by sides of Marinara and Ranch dipping sauces. My first bite was without any dipping sauce and as the deliciousness spread through my mouth, I knew what all the fuss was about. I tried the Marinara sauce but it tasted like Campbell’s Tomato Soup without water added so it got pushed to the side but the Ranch sauce had a good flavor and complimented the fried curds.

When the sandwich and salad arrived, the presentations was very nice. The salad was fresh and, although a bit heavy with what seemed to be oil combined with the balsamic, still delicious. The sandwich was thick, grilled on both sides, and cut in half which made it easier to handle.

I enjoyed fried Watonga Cheese curds and eating at The Mule. I would recommend both.

Absolutely loved it! I had the Macaroni Pony with fries, Cesar salad and tea. It was phenomenal and only cost me 16 dollars. It was definitely worth the price. There was so much food I could not finish it all! Highly recommended!

The food was good but the staff sucked. Hipsterdom at it's finest. I wanted to punch our server in the face. He was such a pretentious douche. Not to mention we waited for, like, half an hour for some sandwiches.
