Rehap is good. Doctor and Case Manager Nurse are the worst, they only here themselves talk, not anybody else. We tried telling them VA would pick up after Medicare, because he is 100% covered, but she didn't care and would not listen. She only wanted to move him out ready or not. They kicked my dad out on a Friday ready or not. Nobody in rehab could believe they were sending him home yet. Needless to say the last 4 days of rehab was just to show me how to transfer him with a transfer board and other things to help. They sent him home wheelchair bound. "Doctor or Case Nurse" did not send him home with any meds for blood clotting, remember he's "WHEELCHAIR" bound. Needless to say, had him to his primary care Doctor the following Tuesday morning. They were SHOCK they sent him home like this. They admitted him back in the hospital for a few days to check him out and to start rehabilitation over again. Guess where he will not
be going to.
BTW....he went there after a week in a half in SICU, so after that no core muscles working. He was drop twice.getting out of bed! So he ended.up be very scared of standing.
He came from the hospital with a picc line. We stressed to Doctor and Nurses about NOT letting anybody take blood out of other arm and please hang a sign he had one. They said everything would be fine nobody will do that. No sign hung telling about Picc line. Went in second day and he had a bruise the size of a soft ball where somebody tried to get blood "he still has a bruise after 3 wks" Hung my own sign up for it. Told Doctor about it and he said was I put it in the orders he had a picc line, said he would fill a complaint. He didn't follow through with anything very will so thing most likely didn't happen.
My dad wore compression socks. Some idiot but them on a couple times with the heels on his ankles, when I got there at 10 in the morning he had ankles that looked deformed. Wish I could put the picture here I took of it.
Not sure what else would have happen if we were not there during the day with him.
PLEASE PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! The NURSING SIDE OF HOSPTAL NEEDS LOTS AND LOTS OF WORK!!
