Medusa Hair Salon

I have thick curly hair and wanted to get the super straight look every one else was wearing. So I decide to go to Medusa Salon in Norwich. I had been ther before for a trim and was impressed by how stylish and sophisticated all the stylist seemed. I was helped by Darcy, she told me I should get a "smoother" so I did.. it worked well but It didn't make my hair straight. She told me if I continued to repeat the process at a stronger level my results would only get better and better. I asked her how many times can I have this done to my hair, "as many times as you want, I asked how often. every month if you want." she said to me.
Over the next year and a half she gave me five "smoothers" throughout the length of
my hair EVERY single time. My hair had become dry and damaged and so I decided to stop with the monthly smothers.
One day I called her up and canceled and asked her exactly what she used in my hair I told her it was damaged and frizzier than when I had first started getting the smothers. She refused to tell me, ....she said that she could lose her licence if I used this information and tried to do my own hair. I contacted her again and she refused, again. I finally went in and made a seen and demanded that she "get a paper and write every single thing she had put in my hair. I asked her why she thought it was ok for her to refuse to tell me what she had put in my own hair.
Darcy told me another stylist had advised her not to tell me, for liability reasons.
I told her either she was a moron or a liar and left.
The owner of the salon was rude and acted like a snob even though she recognized me and knew each time I had been there I had spent $ 250- 300, per visit. plus purchasing products, which Darcy of course, had suggested.
My hair by this time was a wreck. when I first started going to her I had beautiful healthy strong virgin hair. my hair now was dry brittle and not curly or straight.
Just a frizzy mess, which ironically was the very reason I went to Medusa in the first place,to help with the summer frizz..
After that seen I didn't feel like I could see her again, so I called around and set up an app. at Hair Thang also in Norwich. The owner was helpful and saved my hair. She also taught me how to care for my own crazy curly hair. She also told me I was lucky I wasn't bald ..... you see the smothers that Darcy at Medusa given me are meant only to be put in your hair ONCE after that its meant to be applied only to new growth.
I also want to make sure and remember to say on my last to visit with Darcy she went on and on about how she was the" only one" that could preform this service in our area and told me if i went somewhere else, they wouldn't know about the chemicals in my hair and If i tried to get color or anything they would " burn my hair off."
As a cosmetology student I realized now I was being taken and thought back to the Luxurious fur coat I saw Darcy wearing during one of my visits. A word to the wise.... stay away from Medusa they are not knowledgeable, honest , and have no sense of professional integrity and are rude to loyal, good paying customers.

The decor is nice and they seem to know what they're doing - BUT 8+ hours for a full set of highlights is ridiculous.

I would just like to thank Darci so much for the amazing job she did on my hair

yesterday. I have been searching for a stylist that actual can do what they say

without blowing smoke. I had been coloring my hair jet black for about two years

and finely wanted it back to blonde. I've been to several stylist that promised

me it would be blonde. Its been red and orange but not blonde. Darci was the

first stylist that didn't promise me blonde she delivered blonde. The stylist

before had melted parts of my hair off because I have such thick hair they went

through it too quickly and ended up over processing it. With Darci she took her

time actual tested the hair and went througho piece my piece slowing making

sure each formula she created was on the right part so my hair would as she said

keeps it's integrity. Thank you so much Darci I can't wait to continue my hair

journey with you. ~Erica

I've been a client of Darci's at Medusa since January of 2010. She saved me from a horrible, self-inflicted "over the counter" box job mess, with amazing results. She is always professional, explaining what she is doing, and the reason behind it, making sure that I understand what she is going to do. I've never questioned her judgment or her methods. I've always been pleased with the results, and so has my husband - so much so, that he is now a client also.
