There are too many good sandwich places in RI, for this place to somehow still be in business. The owner "Butch" is rude and unprofessional. We walked in, hearing him telling a customer that "the guy in the jeep parked like a real a**hole"... I have a jeep, and parked in a legal spot in front of the door. It seems like I was in one of his "regular" customer's spot... Because a car had tried to squeeze up right to my bumper, and then after giving up, moved to the other side of the street... Regardless of hearing the tail end of this, and choosing to take the high road and to not walk out, we ordered a sandwich to split. I specifically said no hot peppers, and for here. He packed it to go. I asked him if he had cut it in half (as we were splitting a sandwich, and I couldn't see if he had done so because he incorrectly packaged it to go), and he stopped what he was doing, stuck both his hands out to his sides and glared at me. So I did the exact same thing back to him, and said, "well I can't see the sandwich so did you?". I paid, he said nothing else, and I took it to go, to get out of the dilapidated building...

And by the way, the sandwich did have hot peppers on it! Again, there are too many good places to go, to grab a bite, then to have to put up with this Cavone!!

Almost didn't go in because the place from outside looked closed, and then once inside looked dingy and disorganized.

Should've gone with my first instinct.

The owner needs some anger management or psychological therapy.

After he told me I needed to purchase double the mortadella than what I needed because he was going to have to open a new loaf (old trick, but I let it slide), I asked in a polite and friendly manner if it was a good brand (you know, something you ask about a product you've never tried that you suddenly learn you have to buy twice as much of as you need).

He immediately stopped everything, his expression changed to that of an angry barfly, and he said I had insulted him. When I apologized and said I never meant to insult him, he accused me of being deliberate about it.

"Deliberate" is my word, not his. He was far more crude about it. Short fused--zero-to-60 in only seconds, and wouldn't back off of it, even as I apologized again.

When I said "Wow, that's not necessary. I think I'll leave," he said I had better before he threw me out himself.

As others have said in reviews, there are far too many good (and clean and friendly) cold cut and sandwich shops in the area to put up with abuse from a guy who clearly is working out his issues on customers.
