Tailoring by Kim

I was surprised to read some of the poor reviews on Yelp because I had the exact opposite experience. She was very friendly, very honest (tried to talk me out of replacing the zipper in my winter coat because it would cost $40 which she thought was expensive. It's my favorite coat and super warm, so I went ahead). The end product was terrific and done on time. I'd return in a heartbeat!

I brought a vintage fur coat to Kim on 8/17 to have a seam repaired and the buttons replaced. Kim explained she was backed up and that it would be two weeks, which I was fine with. I brought two more vintage pieces to her a week later, with the understanding that all of it would be ready mid-September.



When I first went to pick it all up, around September 10th, she apologized and said to come back in a few days. I did. Nothing was ready. This happened five times. Finally, yesterday, I went to pick up my clothes and she said none of it was "there." She said it was at her house because it wasn't "finished." I told her to bring it all back and I would pick it up.



Today, 10/1, I went to pick up my clothes and it was all there - but NONE of the work was done. Not one thing.



Don't bother going there. Ever.

Kim Does an Excellent Job. I went to Kim for alternations on three Seven For all Mankind Jeans. She took the time to pin them and asked what kind of shoes I will wear with them.

She took the time to advise me as to what lengths are compatible with different types of footwear.

She knows her styles well, especially in designer jeans. When I went to pick them up, the work was excellent and the thread matched the fabric perfect. Her work showed attention to detail.

I am surprised to read these other reviews, my guess is there could had been a language barrier. I am a blue jean guru (Seven for All Mankind, Nudie (from Italy), vintage Levi collection), and have not found a better tailor.

Tailoring by Kim doesn't even deserve one, single star! She is extremely dishonest. She ruined a $330 dollar pair of True Religion jeans, and refused to return them OR pay for them OR replace them. Where are they now?....ebay? She was asked to do a Euro/reattachment hem, and she decided she would "fashion" her own instead. STAY AWAY!!! AND she NEVER, EVER finishes her alterations on time. I have heard story, after story.... be warned!!!! She is extremely outspoken (rude) and not a professional in any way.

I used to go to Kim's Tayloring for over 5 years. I was a good customer to her. Kim does good alterations but she is never on time with delivery of any of her items. She has customers come to pick up clothes and still does not have it ready. She has a preety poor customer service attitude. Her prices are also varied. She would make up prices at the last minute during pick up. When questioned why some of my alternations were so much she commented on the fact that my profession allows me to make a great deal of money. That is highly unprofessional. She also commented on the fact that she could not alter some of my collegues clothes because she was too obese and as a result she too does not go to her anymore. She does not maintain consistency in her pricing nor in her delivery and her communication crosses boundries that are personal and unnecessary. I do not recommend her as a business. Over a long period of time she is very frustrating to deal with. Her good work is not credited as she is unable to carry out her business in a professional, reliable and fair manner. In a day when we are all working to maintain our lives economically such business as alterations and dry cleaning are taking advantage of our needs.
