Shake Shack

The double stack is amazing it's like the perfect combination of Portabella goodness cheese and a juicy burger. The fries are equally tasty and fresh. Surprisingly I think I've only had a shake one time there but I'm pretty sure it was Peanut butter and chocolate and with those two flavors can't really go wrong. This is definitely a family favorite.

Finally, a reasonably healthy fast food burger restaurant on the UWS! Until a couple years ago, we only had McDonald's. When you walk into Shake Shack, you feel better because you're aware of their eco-friendly marketing campaign. The burgers are 100% All Natural Angus Beef. No Hormones and no antibiotics, ever. The burgers are served on tasty brioche buns and while they're significantly smaller than other restaurant burgers, that's ok. You don't feel too full when you're finished eating. The menu us quite basic: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Mushroomburger and the Shack Burger. You can also throw in a Flat Top Dog and an order of fries (which aren't the pencil-thin fast food fries) but rather crinkle fries. If you're feeling especially adventurous, there is an overwelming selection of shakes and concretes (i was never able to understand the different). But, beware of very long lines. At lunchtime, the lines are wrapped around a city block. While they do move quickly (and you'll get your fancy vibrating buzzer so you can wait outside), if you're hungry, you will have to wait. And, chances are, you won't get a seat.
