During the summer, Camp Ramapo provides therapeutic residential camping programs for children with special needs from ages 6 to 16. Ramapo's summer programs provide all the best aspects of traditional summer camp in a unique therapeutic environment, using innovative techniques and a one-to-one staff-to-camper ratio. Ramapo Retreats serve school groups, community-based organizations and social service agencies, providing adventure-based, experiential learning experiences that promote positive character values, build social and learning competencies, and enhance self-esteem in children of all ages and abilities. Directed by highly experienced Ramapo program facilitators, these programs also enable teachers and staff to learn new techniques and strategies for working with children. Ramapo Training, the professional development program of Ramapo for Children, provides behavior management training, program support and coaching for educators, parents and youth service workers. Drawing on over 80 years of experience training staff to work with children with special needs, Ramapo Training also works with inexperienced supervisors to build inclusive environments where all children may thrive.
