P.S. 042 Benjamin Altman is a more than 70,000-square-foot school located in New York City. It features over 60 classrooms and has an enrollment of nearly 750 students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school uses literature and authentic experiences to develop literacy and ability in all content areas. It offers reading recovery, bilingual Chinese, writing, early intervention, conflict resolution and balanced literacy programs. P.S. 042 Benjamin Altman also operates dance, chess, art and computer clubs. It additionally provides food and health care services. The school s traditional and nontraditional sports activities promote health-related fitness. P.S. 042 Benjamin Altman has more than 100 staff members.
