Seriously this is the best hair place in Midtown, Manhattan!! Everyone here is kind, friendly and professional. . My new guy Polo is amazing. I visited NYC and decided to have a hair cut so I looked for the salon on line Gabriel Shimunov Salon really did stood out! So happy I picked it. I had long hair and came to cut it real short, quite of a change !!! Polo, my hairdresser did an amazing job !!! He listened to me, we discussed everything. I've showed him the photo of a haircut and the color I'm looking for, and he did it exactly the way I wanted it and even better. His suggestions was so helpful as well. I highly recommend this place and Polo!!!

My hair is thin and I am very picky when it comes to hair salon as not everyone is able to cut my hair. My to go person is Nancy, she is awesome with cut and hair coloring. I was so nervous about my very first balayage but Nancy put me at easy and did awesome job! I highly recommend this salon!!

Rakan is the best stylist, This was a great salon. Everyone was very friendly. Rakan made me look amazing. I came in with long bleached blonde hair and left with a cute shoulder length A-line cut with a rose hombre and a slight peachy undertone. I loved the color he mixed up. Im extremely satisfied. Definately going back

I love love my hair cut & balayage color.! David was my colorist and stylist, and I love my hair!!! I constantly get compliments on my hair. He was very cool, calm, and informative. He broke down the complete process, which made me feel very comfortable.; worth every penny I definitely will be back... So do your self a favor and go to Gabriel Shimunov salon! Trust me, it's worth it!

I absolutely love love love this place... From the time I walked in, the staff was super friendly and the first thing they offered me was something to drink. While I waited for my stylist, I filled out a new client contact information sheet. My stylist Nancy came to greet me and take me to her chair. Nancy was wonderful! She took her time to understand my hair situation and styling techniques; so that she could make recommendations. The consultation took more than I had ever experienced with any other stylist, which I greatly appreciated. She really listened to what I wanted but made suggestions on the cut as well as products that would help me tame my hair. I also had color, which I love because my hair looks healthier! Thank you Nancy and for making your clients feel fabulous. :)

I love this place. It's quick and affordable. I came in today without an appointment. I was very thrilled and enlightened that such a new and exciting salon has made its way to Midtown. Actually, I have not heard of this type of business before; therefore I was intrigued to find out about it. I was pleasantly surprised with the total ambiance of the shop. The owner is delightful as are his stylists. Jessica was my stylist and she was great. Prior to starting any applications, we talked for a few moments regarding the styling, as I am a very fussy person. She was "right on" with what I was looking for! Good scalp massage. fantastic customer service, I felt comfortable right away. Gabriel was lovely to talk to and was very knowledgable about hair, I am a person that plans and researches everything! When I finally decided I was going to get the Brazilian Blowout I read everything about it. I googled hair salons in my area and the first link that came up was Brazilian Blowout By Gabriel. I then proceeded to read reviews for this place and this guy "Gabriel" Every review sounded to good to be true and my first thought was that he probably had his staff or even he wrote about his wonders. I still called and made an appt for the next morning at 8 in the morning! That's right folks 8 in the morning. He understood that I'm a morning person and didn't want to spend my whole day at the hair salon. (breath of fresh air) My hair NOW is silky and looks 100xs healthier, had a great experience. Wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be he has a cool summer promotion going (a haircut is included) He made the whole experience awesome! I would highly recommend him to my family and friends! So all you Brazilian Blowout first timers or repeats contact Gabriel.

Gabriel Shimunov is a great salon - the staff is super cool and super friendly. They play a fantastic mix of fun music - not lame lounge music,
So they recommend me some soft layers, very playful but elegant and in my face also some long soft layers to cover my round face shape.
And the color was also perfect. I didn't want warm color, but as natural as possible. Best hair salon experience I've ever had!!!!

Just got home from yet another perfect haircut from Gabriel!
I have had many haircuts and colors, but every time I leave Salon I tell Gabriel how it is my best haircut EVER... and I mean it!

All around a 5-Star experience. The price is right too!!

Gabriel always handles my appointment booking needs and makes sure there is plenty of time dedicated to me and the service being done. Then his colorist works her magic on my hair. They pay attention to the littlest of details.. The Salon is always clean and has a sexy urban atmosphere. Always a fine selection of music and when I want to indulge a little, the wine is delicious too.

I LOVE this place! From the second you're greeted at the door, to the tender care of the stylists, this place is Top Shelf. Everyone is conversing and laughing, it truly feels like a family.

GS salon is the best hairdresser in the City! Why? Because the service there is great, the people who work there are great; they're fun, lively, positive and always on the look out what you're going for. They always aim for the best and proceed with caution which makes the money so worth while! They actually do acomplish what you are looking for; weather it comes down to a haircut or dying your hair.

They have a heart of hospitality and are always helpful! The first time I got my haircut, I loved it, it turned out to be exactly how I wanted it and it grew out smoothly; people always need a good haircut if you are wanting to grow your hair out. If you're wanting to dye your hair or wanting to get a very specific haircut, I would recommend this salon to go and experience the heart of it!

The first time I got my hair dyed there, I was surprised because it was exactly what I was going for and they accomplished it to my willing. The second time I went to get my hair dyed the same thing happened, with caution and patience. Both colors turned out great and I wouldn't know any other hairdresser who are just as good with specific colors or haircuts.

The first time I got my haircut I love it and it wasn't too short, it got cut exactly how I wanted it. The second time I got it cut, it was done again with caution and patience. And inbetween both experiences they would show you why the length is either uneven or if the haircut you got beforehand wasn't cut right for the type of hairstyle that you want. That helps because they know what they are saying and it becomes even a bigger success!

You will not be disappointed. I would recommend this salon to visitors and locals! Great team, lot's of attention and great hair!

I'm so glad to find this place, I was looking for a good place to get my Brazilian blowout after searching & searching on Google I found good deal and after that I checked all the yelp reviews and I decide to try this place. Honestly I'm impressed Gabriel Shimunov owner was awesome, so sweet and did such a great job. Really I loved the place & for sure will be back :)

I love the salon vibe, (and it's in a cute area- with a lot of shops and restaurants around.) The salon is bright and clean with a lot of light- definitely very stylish and modern.

I got very pretty --beige blonde high lights by the awesome colorist Francesco by a good friend whose hair always looks beautiful and when I was in DESPERATE need of a color correction, he seriously came to my rescue! My hair; brittle and chemically exhausted, turned into a GORGEOUS and shiny head of hair after I saw him! And when it comes to cutting, he's a magician! I had him cut my hair it looks so healthy and full. I insisted that my sister make an appointment with him before an important event and now her hair also looks absolutely incredible.

He is nice, funny and amazing at color. I enjoyed my hair appointment! Francesco is like your "fairy God father of color" because he will turn you into a stunning princess.I've had so many compliments and starting the new year with great looking hair. I highly recommend him if your looking for professional good high lights. I finally found a great stylist who I am looking forward to booking my next appointment.

I've seen SO many stylists and no one does color, color corrections, or cuts like he does. I HIGHLY recommend that you make an appointment with him ASAP. Quick responses, friendly staff, great receptionists and awesome atmosphere.

5+ stars! Had wonderful experience. Just had my hair colored and cut by Ashley. She is wonderful. My hair was extremely thick and heavy. I swear I get headaches just walking around with my hair down. She did an awesome job thinning it out for me. I feel 2 pounds lighter! My roots were showing big time I made an appointment for a different change. The receptionist who squeezed me in last minute - I called in on a Friday morning and booked an appointment that same Friday afternoon. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Very clean and modern interior gets you excited.

Again, I can't help but rave about the decor and the service - the receptionists at the front greet you warmly, all the assistants make sure their clients are well taken care. Ashley recommended ombre. I really love how I can just go in with no idea of what I want, and Ashley knows exactly what to do to make her clients look good.

She is so personable: she's like that long lost best girlfriend you always want to chat and catch up with... and yet she is so focused and professional about her work. You can tell she has integrity and high standards - she is so detail oriented as she constantly checked on my hair to make sure the right color was coming out. Overall, it was just an amazing experience and I would highly recommend everyone to book an appointment with her. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. :) Thank you, Ashley

I have been going to Gabriel for three years now. Gabriel is amazing. I consistently get a fantastic haircut, and he very pleasant and professional.

Gabriel spent a very short time on my hair and it was probably the worst haircut I ever got from someone who didn't try hard at all. It just seems like a money pit here. Usually my bangs would require some ingenuity because they are thick and bushy and his idea of styling them was one clip with the scissors. Who is writing all these great reviews??

I came far, spent a lot of money, only to feel like I was really ripped off. There was almost zero difference from before and after my haircut.

My mom booked me a treatment at this salon upon purchasing a Groupon for the brazilian blowout. The woman who did the treatment was nice. A few other reviewers have said that they don't do a good job with their Keratins and Brazilian Blowouts so I suppose I'll have to wait and see if they are correct - I haven't had one in about a year so I can't remember the process at all but it did seem pretty hasty looking back. The treatment took about the same amount of time as a blowout would take. The real problem occurred when I went to check out, however. The salon's owner insisted that I pay the full price of the treatment and that I would have to deal with returning the Groupon upon leaving. His exact words: "I don't get as high of a percentage when you use Groupon." I was lucky to have carried my wallet that day (I'm a college student so I don't always carry this) because he ended up finally agreeing to let me pay the difference, as I was planning to only bring the Groupon and the tip. As I have prior stated, I had nothing to do with the purchase of this Groupon... It was given to me as a birthday present from my mother. I had no idea what to do because I did not feel comfortable taking his word that Groupon would refund my mother's purchase and I also did not have $250 on me (which I think was pretty clear given my age but he had no problem harassing a teenager). As I said, he finally agreed to let me pay the difference between what my mother paid for the Groupon and the full price of the service. Ultimately, my trip was more of a punishment than a gift. I left crying and am very upset that a middle aged man could be so heartless that he'd feel comfortable harassing someone for a few extra bucks.

This is my favorite salon in town. they always offer me a drink and all the magazines I can read. I recommend this place to all my friends.

I had a great stylist who listened to me on how to style my hair.

I went to his salon to have my hair done for a brazilian blowout... I talked to him over the phone on my way to his salon and the price he told me was $250....and I bought a $30 shampoo which should total $280 plus tax...

BUT when I handed him my card he charged $344.95...

When I asked him about it he just said "OH...I forgot to tell you that it's $300 instead of $250 because your hair is long and thick".... mind you I also told him beforehand over the phone that my hair is really long....

He is a crook....what the other girls said in the review about him changing his price is TRUE....please go somewhere else
