Founded in 1999, New Orleans Womanspace ( N.O.W.) provides a variety of services to women who are chronically homeless and have have mental disabilities. It provides a safe environment for these women to stabilize before moving to treatment or transitional housing. New Orleans Womanspace is a program that is administered by Resources for Human Development, which is a nonprofit social service organization that is headquartered in Philadelphia and sponsors human service programs in more than five states in the United States. Established in 1970, it supports over 150 programs that provide job training, assisted transportation and crisis intervention services. It also offers residential services for individuals who are homeless and have mental disabilities and chemical addiction. The organization is located in New Orleans.
