The Judicial Council of the Supreme Court of Louisiana was established in 1950 and received its first funding by the state legislature in 1954. It has various standing committees and organizes several ad hoc committees. The Judicial Council of the Supreme Court serves as a research arm for the Supreme Court. It acts as a resource center where ideas for simplifying and expediting judicial procedures and correcting shortcomings in the system are studied. Additionally, the Judicial Council of the Supreme Court publishes an annual report that chronicles the activities of the council. The Judicial Council of the Supreme Court governs various Judicial College, The Judiciary Commission, the Law Library and the Judicial Administrator's Office. It also includes compilation of statistics from the various courts in the state. Its office is located in New Orleans.
