United Girl's Choir

The United Choir School is such a great program. This is my daughter's second year in the choir, and she has loved absolutely every minute of it! Being in the choir has not only helped her to develop her musical skills; she has also gained so much confidence and is more willing to take risks and push herself out of her comfort zone. The conductors never fail to enable the choristers to realize their full potential, both musically and as leaders. UCS is a truly unique choral program, and I am so happy that my daughter is a part of it!

I sang with the United Choir School for 11 years, graduating in 2013. My time with UCS made up the most formative years of my life both as a musician and as a person. The choir revolves around peer leadership from choristers of every age. Through this unique program, I had the chance to grow up with a set of role models of older choristers who not only taught me to be passionate about music, but showed me through their enthusiasm and compassion in their interactions equally with their peers and the much younger choristers how to create a joyful and respectful community. For more than a decade with the program, I watched as young choristers from every demographic and social background in Connecticut gained confidence in an environment that encouraged self-expression and community far more than any other school or academic setting. The choir's rigorous musical curriculum helped give me the confidence to succeed in school, and I'm now studying music and literature while singing in a professional choir in college. Joining the choir at age seven was the best decision for me and for my family, and I am forever grateful for spending the most formative years of my childhood in a place of sincerity, inclusion, empowerment, and infectious passion for music.

The United Choir School is a program that never fails to impress me. My daughter was in the choir for 7 years and she gained so much confidence and musicality from this program it is impossible to picture her middle school and high school years without it. Rebecca, Tom, Ria and the rest of the staff are amazing individuals who truly understand what it means to be the best people you can be. Signing your daughter up for this program will not disappoint you!

Awesome program that I highly recommend!!!

My daughter has been doing this for 4 years now, and she loves it more every year. She has made so many new friends, and loves performing at Woolsey Hall in New Haven! Her skills as a singer have definitely improved, but it is even greater to see how much she has matured and grown as a person.
