Homestead Kennels

We had our Basenji with Homestead Kennel for 10 days. Sent two 21 cup containers of his dog food. He was only fed about 10 cups of food, went from 24 pounds to 20 pounds, had open wounds on his leg and hind. Slept for almost 3 days straight after returning home. Our pup came home filthy dirty, smelled horrible, and was very distraught. As others have stated, if you love your dog please Do Not Take your dog to this kennel!!

As a caring dog owner and animal lover, this is the ONLY place I'd bring my dog for grooming in the Lehigh Valley. I have a wonderful show dog and personally I wouldn't trust him to anywhere else in the Lehigh Valley. He's a mountain dog and loves playing in the mud...so the day before each AKC show I ALWAYS bring him for a morning of bathing, brushing, paws, nails, and grooming at Homestead. The results have been nothing short of amazing...and apparently the show judges think so too. In his first four weekends of showing, with Homestead doing the grooming, he is two-thirds of the way to his championship! If you know that feeling of seeing your "little girl" coming down the stairs all decked out and beautiful for her senior prom, you know how it feels when I pick up my mountain "mudhound" all beautifully groomed and ready to show. The owner and staff at homestead are lovely folks. They often give me lots of great tips and advice on grooming, showing, training and just about everything dog-related. Even better, they always treat my dog royally, with lots of attention and affection...so a trip to the groomers is a fun morning for him. When I bring him out of the my van from the Homestead parking lot, he almost drags me through the front door. I highly recommend Homestead Kennels!

My yorkies were there for 5 days. I wrote directions on feeding my dogs along with there food. Well they never feed them the food or treats. Used there own good. Do now my female is very ill. Took her to the vet for blood work and now on meds. That place always smells and the dogs are always dirty. Never again. Pls don't go there if you love you pets. Nancy the owner should listen to directions and stop talking nonsense to people. Also when you leave a message it takes days to listen to them as stated by one of the workers.

My German Shepard stayed here for 7 days. When I picked her up and brought her home I noticed she was all full of dog urine. I called the kennel and they said she must have peed on her blanket and laid on it. Really? She never !!! Does that at home. My dog smelled so bad of Pee and had yellow stains on her white coat. They said they couldn't fit her in to be groomed that day. I said u must !! After a lot of resistance they let her come back to b groomed. I figured out that they must hose down the pee in the kennels and then let the dogs lay in Pee since all the dog kennels are connected and there are no raised beds for the dogs they lay in it in it GROSS!! I felt bad I left my dog there. I didnt bring her there full of Pee !! I don't want her back full of dog pee !! She is a clean dog and had no choice but to lay in other dogs pee :( . Looking for a new kennel. Don't bring you dog here !! It also smells horrible like dog pee!! I should have know better !!! Very unsanitary.

Took my dog for a trim and gave distinct instructions on how I wanted it done.. I was shocked to see when my puppy was brought out. Instead of a trim as requested they had given him a close to skin haircut, when asked why their response was that they forgot to look at their note. My dog has come back with an ear infection before from these people but I gave them a benefit of doubt. I will never go back to this place again and will never recommend this place to anyone as well.

I have had many experiences with this place - all very negative and the WILL NOT be receiving ANY business from me ever again. To start off, the staff is incredibly unfriendly and rude. One woman, Sharon, screams so loud in the back at the dogs you can hear her out front. The owner is absolutely out of control, she talks politics and will talk for hours. She also has talked about her staff to customers on numerous occasions, which is incredibly unprofessional. My dog, as well as a friends' dog, hated going here and would shake in the car on the way back and would be in pain for hours. They use a soldering iron to cauterize the nails if cut too short. Who does that!? I had to hold my dog for them on one occasion because she freaked out as soon as they took her back. That was the last straw. Please people, if you care for the welfare of your pets, you will not take them here. Petco will give you better results than this place

This place is always dirty, smelly and has rude staff ! You make an appointment and they keep your dog for 4 hours at a time in which she is thrown into a cage and in between your groomer is doing other dogs at the same time. Grooming takes 1-1/2 hours . You can't tell me your dog get any attention at all. when I bring my dog home afterwards she runs under the bed and shakes and won't come out. THAT IS NOT NORMAL! I have only been there 4 times ,I will never go back, I think this place needs to be investigated.
