Yvette and her staff are abusive and neglectful. She tried getting one of her employees to assault me and they were putting all my stuff outside because i called the police over a window being broke at my apartment. They moved from burnet rd and are now renting all of building r apartments at val dor flats. She is still illegally opperating as assisted living because her people still have to be given their meds and tho she lies about it she does have people being given their meds as well as getting other assistance that makes them opperate as assisted living she is hiding sex offenders there at her apartments as well. Scam artist and funny how my mail never got given to me and someone there used my name to open student loan which im having investigated to see who and i will be pressing charges

I lived in the very first house she opened up, and from my experience the rooms, people, and amenities were nice. The trend of bad feedback comes from 2015, the flood in Austin would've been tough on low income areas, and the less fortunate in 2015. I can only speak from my own experience, and not others, but I can say the owner was good to me, and the others living in Zoe's place at the time I was living there.

The majority of the people complaining about boarding homes have not lived in any and does not know how the hassle it is for the residents having no place not live because of the income, age, and disability. You got Austin to thank for life being difficult for those residents and no intention in helping ANY boarding homes to do better. I pray for all boarding homes and their residents. GOD Bless You Zoe's.

Very First Client

I was the first client of Yvette McKinney's Zoe's Place in 2006. I have lived at Zoe's Place for three years. I am a high-functioning bipolar widow who cannot afford Austin's apartment rents. I have been happy here, have enjoyed my peers here and have always been treated with dignity and respect by Yvette and her house managers.

No one here has ever been neglected or exploited in any way and I am smart enough to know that the home has been managed in an exemplary manner. I would recommend Zoe's Place to any adult looking for a loving family atmosphere which is maintained despite the fact that managing several people who suffer from mental illness with different issues is quite a task. We all work together to help each other and to hold each other up. There are spats and differences of opinions, sure but not nearly so much as the several boarding houses I lived in before Zoe's Place.

Thank you for the opportunity to allow me to speak out. BTW, we are not an MHMR group home. We are a boarding house which promotes independent living and empowerment in a family atmosphere. Yvette is a compassionate, God-loving person who has overcome many obstacles to realize her dream of what to her is "a God thing." Our needs are met well here.

I'm a neighbor, and am disturbed by the amount of police, fire trucks and ambulances that are called to Zoe's nearly on a daily basis. After news of a sexual predator in the area on a spree assaulting women for the past few months I did a look up through TX DPS, and found 4-5 known sexual predators listing Zoe's as their residence. How can this possibly be a "Safe Place".
