I just received a quote from Wilson Roofing for $3,000 to replace four $100 roof vents on a brand new roof. They tried to tell me that the same vents, which I found on the internet for $100 a piece with free shipping, costs $200 each. You would think that a roofing company would be able to get better prices on roofing materials than what a homeowner could get on its own. They even told me that they looked on Lowe's website and the same vents were a lot less than $200, and that they didn't know why their supplier was charging them more than what Lowe's would charge. Next they told me that it cost them $200 per vent to install the vents. Seems pretty steep considering that they don't even have to cut a hole in the roof, nor do they have to wire up any electricity to install these vents because a hole and electricity already exists from the vents that are currently there. All they have to do is simply unplug the existing vent, pop it out, plug in the new vent, and pop it in. My guess is that it wouldn't even take an average roofer an hour for each vent to install a simple roof vent, and I guarantee that they are not paying their workers $200/hour. In fact I asked them if they were paying their roofers $200/hour, and they told me they were not. If you add the $200/vent plus the install of $200/vent times 4 vents, that only adds up to $1,600. I was next told that the $1,400 difference was the profit the company charges for its overhead to install 4 roof vents. It is absolutely ridiculous. If you don't want to overpay for your roofing needs, stay far, far away from this Company. They are a complete ripoff!!!!!

Overall
Very professional - good experience

They did 3 roofs for me. 2 rental homes and a flat hot-rubber roof. Very professional bid, scheduling, and job. It was good to not have to be there and know things were going to be taken care of right. Now 2 years later, no leaks, no problems. Local family business is a plus.
