We focus on attention to detail, whether we’re doing a minor remodel or tearing everything down to the studs. We build custom hardwood cabinetry in-house, so you don’t have to worry about conforming to standardized sizes, and we can also create matching moldings to complete the look.
Bathroom Remodeling
We recently finished a complete bathroom remodel in San Diego. We took an old, outdated bathroom and brightened it by installing a custom glass shower enclosure.
Flooring
TR’s project estimate was competitive with two of three remodel contractors we looked at. The third, a slick design-build company was considerably higher but I assumed that was for some super high-end design service - so as a trial, we agreed to pay an initial design fee to see what they could do. What we ended up with was a mash-up of a 2D drawing, one photo-realistic rendering of a room, along with some poster board display of different samples of flooring tile and backsplash materials and paint swashes for a design that we didn’t even like. We ended up doing our own design and then when we told them we’d go with another contractor, they gave us all the nightmare stories of people had with other contractors, while how well they executed their projects. I had my doubts because some of my questions to them had bounced between their different departments before eventually getting back to me.
Door Installation/Replacement
You may be surprised what a difference new doors can make, giving your home a dramatic facelift. TR Construction’s experienced installers provide professional interior door replacement, complete with matching base and crown moldings.
Drywalls
They don’t require any drywall repair as part of the installation process. You just need to have them installed by a qualified roofer to make sure you don’t cause any roof leaks.
Framing
When removing your chimney, you will need to consider how it impacts the structure of the rest of your home. Some chimneys might run through the middle of the home, impact several floors, be connected to the framing, or be tied to the foundation. Before removing a chimney, you will want to have a good understanding of how it is integrated into your home.
Tile Installation
Clay tiles are made from molded clay and are one of the most environmentally friendly options. They are also well-known for their longevity. They can last over 100 years when made and installed correctly. Even though clay tiles are more expensive, they make up for it in longevity. Most commonly they are terracotta in color, but there are also ceramic tiles that are made by adding a colored-enamel coating.
Ceiling Fans
Here is an example of what TR Construction’s Roofing Division can do for you. While other roofing companies would not be interested nor have the level of expertise to do this type of work; we have journeyman roofers and carpenters to install R-30 insulation in between your rafters. Some of you may have a cathedral type ceiling where there is not a functional attic space to access for additional insulation. We can tear off your old roof, pop and remove all the plywood and install the required R-30 insulation in the rafters which will decrease your heating and cooling bills. While the roof is open, our licensed Electrician can install electrical ceiling fan boxes in your bedroom, living room, dining room, and all areas that were inaccessible before. Also, at this time there are tax incentives and rebates for those willing to support the green movement and give you that badly needed roof insulation and roof of your dreams.
Fireplaces
The Rampart General precast concrete chimney is one of the most problematic fireplaces we see in San Diego County. With most fireplaces, builders lay them brick by brick onsite. But Rampart General pre-casts the chimney and fireplace at the factory before shipping them to the home site. The fireplace and chimney look like brick, but are actually one solid piece made with a mix of cement and aggregate.
Staircases
Carpeting
Flooring should be smooth and slip-resistant. Carpeting can be helpful to help protect from falls, but it should be low pile and with a firm pad. Watch out for transitions from a hard floor to carpet or for small steps.
Skylight Repair/Replacement
We live in San Diego; where the sun is always shining! Don’t you want to let a little of that sunshine in? Skylights and solar tubes are both excellent options. We can also help repair leaky skylights.
We know the thought of having your home “torn up” might evoke negative thoughts, but we’re focused on lessening the disruption that occurs in your life during a more extensive remodeling project such as a room addition or space reconfiguration. We are very sensitive to your needs, and know you’ll find our team members to be polite, efficient and clean.
New Construction
Roof tiles are a timeless San Diego favorite. Not only do you see them on many new construction homes in the area, but on the Mission San Diego de Alcalá built back in the 18th century. And it’s no wonder tile roofs are popular in San Diego County. They are uniquely suited to our area’s climate and location.
Demolition
Rampart General fireplace removal is not a small job. Not only do you have the repairs needed with a typical chimney removal, but the demolition is different from a brick and mortar fireplace. The chimney is in one piece and can weigh several tons. It is a job that needs to be done by a highly qualified contractor with experience in both roofing and remodeling.
At TR Construction, we provide top-quality, professional services for your entire home – including outdoors. We can help with everything from fire pits, hardscape, patio covers, porches, gazebos, decks, masonry work, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens and BBQs, electrical work, and more.

Heavy and hard to open doors and windows with difficult latches can be problematic for seniors, especially if they have arthritis. Door handles, locks, and window latches should be easy to open.
Decks
If you have a smaller home, decks and patios are a great way to make it feel bigger without investing in an addition. Plus, with San Diego weather, who wouldn’t want a deck? When putting in a deck, homeowners can recoup about 85 percent to 100 percent of the costs when they sell their home.
Patios
A flat roof is a roof with a pitch of 10° or less. It is more common to see flat roofs on industrial buildings or apartment complexes. But in San Diego it is not unusual to see flat roofs on modern style homes or on structures like carports, patios, or add-ons. The temperate weather in places like Del Mar, Encinitas, and Mission Beach means that flat roofs don’t have to contend with problems like snow and ice build up.
Gutters
Keep your gutters and downspouts clean. If these are not draining properly water can collect on your roof and cause wood rot or other damage.
Siding
If you want to remodel the exterior of your home, TR Construction’s expert siding installers can replace your wood or aluminum siding with a beautiful new look. If your home needs a new coat of paint, our professional painters can help you out.

Residential Roof Repair
San Diego Roof Repairs By Experienced Roofers Roofs have it pretty good in San Diego. We usually don’t have to worry about snow, ice dams, large hail, torrential rain, or hurricane-level winds. But even...
Residential Roof Replacement/Installation
Over the years, we have perfected our new roof installation system – from teardown to completion – by working with homeowners like you. Our goal is to complete your roof replacement quickly with as little disruption to your routine as possible...and with minimal mess. With TR Construction, reroofing doesn’t have to be a headache.
Residential Roof Inspection
There are several reasons why a roof may need to be repaired. Roof leaks are often first detected by homeowners as water spots on the ceiling. But if you are lucky, you may catch some of the following issues before they become a big problem. We also perform roof inspections to help catch some of these problems before they do more damage.
Most roofline changes are complicated and raising your roof is no exception. In particular, make sure to handle the transition from the old lower wall to the new upper wall correctly. When done incorrectly, you risk compromising the integrity of your walls. Our team not only has extensive experience working with roofs, but has the additional carpentry know-how to make sure your roof is raised safely without compromising your home.
Insulation
Temperatures are going up and, unfortunately, so is your energy bill. In the summer, heat naturally flows into your home, and in the winter it naturally flows out of your home. Insulation resists the flow of heat, which in turn decreases the costs of heating and cooling your home.
Masonry
Caulking
Older kitchens take much longer to clean than newer ones. Old grout can take hours to scrub clean. Dingy sinks require serious elbow grease. Old faucets no longer shine the way that they used to and old caulking is much harder to get clean. Not to mention how much time it takes to scrub your stove! New surfaces are easier to keep clean and new advances in materials and products make things a lot easier to maintain. Remodeling your kitchen can save you a lot of time!
Electrical Work
We provide a one-stop remodeling solution. Our in-house team includes experts in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, acoustic ceiling removal, tile setting, painting, and design...so we can do it all.
