Overall
Run by crazy flakes

If you're looking for a pug and would like to adopt rather than go to a breeder and you live in the San Diego area, good luck, I tried diligently for over a year. This particular pug rescue is one of the only two pug rescues at the time (2013). The main gal, Suzy is more interested in the attention factor of pug rescue than giving a second chance at a wonderful life in a loving home. The website is a complete joke, pugs listed are sickly, old and have been with the rescue group for 6 months up to 3 years. I had a pug who I had since she was a puppy and lived to be 18. 6 months later I reached out to rescues and filled out the adoption application immediately because I was told I would have to sit and wait until one of the volunteers / board members or whatever they call themselves found a pug that would be a good fit. No thanks, other than a few mass emails I received from them when a new pug was available, never was I contacted by any of their staff regarding a pug. I did respond to two of those mass emails, one without a response and the second I was 17th on a list of people already interested in that particular dog, 20 minutes after the email was sent. I followed their Facebook page, as that was were they did most of the posting of dogs and one pug I inquired about 5 minutes after it was posted was never replied to as well. Their main website doesn't ever list the pugs they send out mass emails about, only has the pugs with special needs requiring daily meds, senior pugs, dogs with health or behavioral issues or ones that must be adopted together; which were typically one healthy pug and an old one requiring special care. I was told that this rescue keeps ("fosters") the pugs who are younger, healthy & that would be adopted in a couple days if listed on their site and pass on perfect applicants meeting their requirements until they can find the "perfect forever home." Meaning, they pass over several "perfect forever homes" so the dog can live with a pug hoarder in a small, crappy house and share the attention with 15 other pugs in the same boat. The rescue IS really responsive to those who offer donations as well as seeking media coverage for their fundraising events. Food and vet bills for pet hoarders has got to be pretty expensive and they are always looking for donations "to continue saving / hoarding more pugs."
