Leonard Tinker Heating & Cooling

I love Leonard Tinker! He is knowledgeable & competent and always gets the job done. He's been in the business forever--no one in Des Moines knows more about heating and cooling than him. I'm so surprised to see a couple negative reviews on here-- those folks are crazy!

He started removing my furnace on a Friday, & told me I would have heat on Monday afternoon. That was the first lie. I never saw Leonard until Thursday, around 3:00 pm, never called me, or let me know where he was. He stays about 1 1/2 hrs., then leaves. He shows up on Friday, 3:30, he stays about 45 min., again doesn't call to let me know where he is. He leaves, I don't hear a word from him, I call him on Tuesday evening. I tell him that, the light that you use to light up the stairway to the basement doesn't work since he installed the furnace shut off switch into the wiring to that light. He says he will come the next day (Thursday), (another lie) he comes on Friday. He is there for about 3 hrs, say he will come on Monday, or Tuesday to do my audit so I can receive my $ 900.00 rebate from Mid America. Of course he never shows up either day. I finally call him on Fri, I will be out on Monday, or Tuesday. Well it's been almost 2 months since he left, & hasn't been back for my audit. I've called him about every other week, since same story every time, next week, next week. I finally say to him, quit lying to me, & tell me the truth. Tell me you aren't going to do my audit, I'm not going to get a rebate. I also gave him a key to my house when he started my job. Not too many people do that these days. I know that because I used to do remodeling, & was self employed. I say to him, just bring my house key back, & will say you are done. That was on a Wednesday. He has yet to bring my house key back to me. It's now Sunday, my audit isn't done, & he has my key. I'm wondering if he hasn't sent my audit to himself, or what. He never did pull a permit to install a furnace. I wouldn't recommend his service to anyone.

A once dependable guy who is no longer as good, thoughtful or thorough as in the past. Did regular business with him for 20 years, but had two bad experiences in a row and was treated poorly by Mr. Tinker. When asked about a problem on something he serviced, he refused to respond or come back, even though I was fine paying for the service. Just said, "That system is junk" and hung up.
