We build our cabinetry using hardwoods for doors and frames and 3/4" cabinet grade plywood. These are solid and will last lifetimes.
Bathroom Remodeling
Flooring
For access to the back yard. We installed new white kitchen cabinets, counter tops, sink and faucet and new vinyl flooring.
Door Installation/Replacement
We did this project for the home owner. This home was built in the late 1940's and constructed out of concrete block. We entered this project after all other remodeling work was completed. Our task was to do all the finishing trim work and install a new kitchen. In this case the contractor and home owner wanted us to construct the doors, jambs and trim for windows and doors from native red oak and the cabinets from hickory.
Drywalls
We decided to cap the ceilings with drywall and save as many of the plaster walls we could and budget allowed. Our drywall specialist "Dean of DryWall" Dean McDonald did all the repair and replacement work. He added some special features to the front parlor.
Framing
Changes to this room included: addition of atrium doors opening onto the patio, leveling the floor, re-framing and repairing exterior walls. Also located in this room is the electric service panel and in the coat closet is the location of computer, phone and cable networking.
Tile Installation
Fireplaces
We purchased this property in 1998 as a remodel to resell. It is a quad level style home built in the early 60's. It features hardwood floors, 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, Family room with wood-burning fireplace, formal living room, large eat in kitchen and an unfinished basement. It also has a 2 car attached garage and sits on an extra large lot in an older subdivision. This home had experienced many years of deferred maintenance. In this project we renovated the kitchen, bathrooms, created a second family room and replaced all interior doors. All walls, ceilings and trim were repainted.
We purchased this house for resale in 2000. It was built in the early 1920's, has ten foot ceilings and original pine floors. The floor plan was functionally obsolete by today's standards. We overcame this problem by relocating the kitchen to the center of the house next to the sunroom, putting both bedrooms on one side of the house. This created better access to the bathroom, and separated private and public areas. In this project all utilities were upgraded and the home was networked for high speed internet access.
Exterior: The original landscaping was overgrown and out of control, hiding the front of the house, causing damage to the front walkway and hampering access to the garage. The driveway entrance was almost completely blocked. We removed all bushes and the walkway. New and larger concrete walkway was installed.
Fencing
At the back. It had privacy fencing and a patio off the kitchen. It was nicely landscaped by its former owners. Because the house sits about four feet above ground level and the back yard slopes away from the house, the patio was awkward to use. The steps from the back door on to the patio were narrow and hard to step up and down.
The red oak doors, jambs, base board, window and door trim were pre-finished in our shop using a satin, water based, odorless finish.
Garage Door Repair/Replacement
Yellow orange, window and door trim light avocado green and deep red for the back exterior door, storm doors and garage doors. We also changed the front door from its fifties poplar wood slab to a vintage yellow pine and glass door from that period.
This is a thoroughly modern house now with a new Entry, new roof, new ceilings, new insulation, new utilities, new windows, new garage and an open, warm floor plan, perfect for entertaining.
