Tree Planting
Many of the problems that we see with younger trees are the result of improper selection and poor planting techniques. At Guardian, we take great care in selecting healthy trees with good structure that will be well-suited to their sites. When planting, we remove as much of the burlap, twine, and wire basket as possible. This allows us to inspect the trees’ root systems for decay, disease, injury, under-development, and girdling roots. Damaged and circling roots can then be pruned out prior to planting to ensure long-term health.
Proper tree pruning requires a detailed understanding of plant physiology, as well as an artistic sense for which limbs should stay and which should go. Beware of vague recommendations that say no more than "trim." Poor tree "trimming" practices can cause a tree to decline, die, or become structurally weakened, whereas knowledgeable pruning decisions can enhance and protect the health and stability of a tree.
Tree Fertilization
The urban environment is rough on our trees. Trees in the forest benefit from biologically rich, undisturbed, well-aerated, organic soils; urban trees, in contrast, are often competing with grass and fighting to survive in disturbed, compacted, nutrient-deficient soils. Furthermore, while trees in the forest have adapted to survive in their native environments, we often plant our trees for aesthetic reasons without considering their specific requirements for good health. These are some of the reasons why many of our trees and shrubs need fertilization to grow well.

Tree Mulching
When stumps from removal work are located in a prominent location or are likely to re-sprout, we bring in our stump grinder to turn the stump into mulch on site. This service is also very helpful when there is a desire to plant a new tree back in the same location. Most stumps are ground to;a depth of 8″ below grade, and the resulting mulch is left in place.
The price of tree work depends on many variables such as species, location, size, condition, and treatments to name a few. Due to so many different factors, we must come out to your property to provide an accurate quote for your work. By meeting with you on site, we are able to save you money by understanding your goals and using a careful, systematic approach to achieve these goals. To save you money in the long run, we continue to monitor and evaluate our treatments for effectiveness so that we can ensure the most efficient use of your landscape maintenance budget.
