X-rays

Teeth Cleaning
This treatment for more mild to moderate periodontal disease is often enough to prevent the progression of disease. If this is the case, it is recommended to stay on a maintenance program of regular dental cleanings. Your periodontist and dentist will recommend the best maintenance program for you. If there are still signs of disease, further treatment may be necessary.

Crowns
There are two types of crown lengthening – functional and esthetic. The purpose is to expose more tooth structure, either to make a crown fit properly or for esthetic reasons.
Bridges
After Immediate Implants, bone graft and soft tissue graft – the full contour of the ridge is repaired, and restored with a new porcelain bridge

Deep Cleaning
After a comprehensive exam and review of your x-rays, your dentist or periodontist may recommend scaling and root planing as part of your initial treatment. The procedure is sometimes referred to as a “deep cleaning”. The purpose of the treatment is to remove bacterial deposits and hardened plaque “tartar” from beneath the gumline. This is usually performed by the dental hygienist but can be performed by the periodontist as well. The cleaning is very thorough and may be done with local anesthesia, and may take more than one appointment.

Dentures
Missing teeth can cause problems with speech, appearance, and shifting of the teeth may occur, causing problems with function. Options for replacing missing teeth are bridges, partial dentures, and since the 1980’s, dental implants. Dental implants are often a preferred option because they simulate a natural tooth and do not require alteration of the adjacent teeth.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Gum Surgery
While in some cases of Periodontal disease, traditional gum surgery might still be the treatment modality of choice, LANAP® is generally a viable alternative for most patients. Dr. Liu will give you advice of treatment options after a thorough evaluation of your periodontal and dental condition.
Tooth Extractions
Bone Grafting
After teeth are extracted, the bone that previously supported the teeth will be lost. The amount of loss can be from 25% to 50% of previous volume, and this loss can be in height or width. The consequence of this can be both esthetic and functional. The goal of bone grafting is restore much of the lost volume so that implants can be properly placed. Implants placed in an ideal location in grafted bone are as successful to those placed in native bone.
