Alterations & Veils By Beatrice

Beatrice is now one of my favorite people! I went to Beatrice with my wedding dress, and I would make that decision again today. If you are looking for an inexpensive and impersonal experience, Bea is probably not what you are looking for! She works from her home, is very precise and dedicated to her craft, and makes absolutely sure that your garments fit flawlessly. I was surprised to learn upon meeting Beatrice that she also altered my moms wedding dress! We connected quickly and felt nothing but welcomed and comfortable in her studio. My mom also decided to have her dress altered by Bea for the wedding.

My dress was a complex project because of its lace being difficult/expensive to source, and that the style actually required alteration of two separate pieces. I also lost a significant amount of weight during my engagement, and Bea was there through the continuous changes (at no convenience to her) to rework the dress so that it fit like a glove. Not to mention she was able to schedule my appointments when I was traveling back into Austin, as I live out of state! Let me tell ya... she handled a lot of change and she delivered. Never once was I worried about the dress being completed, nor the quality of the work that Beatrice gave to my dress. She isn't cheap but she is worth every penny!

I am looking forward to having a reason to go see Bea again. Her fiery attitude and positive spirit are contagious to be around and I will definitely miss that!

I have to say that I have been going to Beatrice for over 15 years and have always been pleased with her work. If you are going to be in a wedding or have a wedding gown that needs work, I would highly recommend her. She does great detailed work and takes great care of your gown.

Beatrice is friendly, helpful and all around amazing at what she does. My dress is perfect. My step mom said it best, Beatrice found her calling because the work she does is nothing short of immaculate. If your dress is in her hands there will be nothing to stress.

I can't say enough good things about Beatrice. She is EXTREMELY TALENTED and will work hard to make sure her clients are happy with her work. She far exceeded my expectations, which seemed impossible at the time and I can't thank her enough! My wedding day was as perfect as it could be and I know a huge reason for that is because I wasn't stressed about the way my dress fit. Once I put my dress on, I didn't have to adjust it once throughout the night. I would highly recommend Beatrice's services to anyone in need of detailed professional gown alteration.



After talking to a few different people about altering my wedding dress, I was very discouraged because everyone told me it would cost thousands of dollars to have it alter due to the degree of difficulty the job would require. Not to mention, I decided to have my dress altered two weeks before my wedding! I absolutely love my Maggie Soterro Symphony Royale wedding dress, but it just didn't fit as well as I would have liked and during my bridal portrait session it was evident that if I didn't get my dress altered, I was going to ruin my wedding day.



Although my dress has a corset back, we weren't able to tighten the waist enough. We pulled the corset as tight as we could until the fabric on both sides of the corset met in the middle and the dress still kept falling down! The dress has detailed beading around the top and down the sides of the corset and and even more intricate beading on the left side of the gown over the seam. All four layers of the dress would need to be altered and each individual piece of the corset would need to be removed, then replaced and sewn back in. Both seams on the sides would need to be taken in, which would require detailed beadwork to be replaced and new pleats put in on the side.



I waited 5 months for this dress and had no time to order a new one if something went wrong. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY skeptical about having my dress altered. That is.....until I met with Beatrice. She is such an amazing woman! I tried the dress on for her and she discussed the different things that would need to be done. She not only had an answer for all of my questions, but also had before and after pictures of similar work she had done on wedding gowns in the past. Beatrice admitted that the job would be quite the undertaking especially with so little time, but assured me it was a job she could handle and I would be exceedingly pleased with her work. Her confidence and evident success in her trade made my decision to choose her services easy and when it was time to talk about the cost, I was SHOCKED that it would only be a few hundred dollars when I had been told more than once it would be thousands!



After Beatrice pulled a few all-nighters, I revisited her to try on the dress one more time before the final alterations were complete. Through all the excitement and challenges of planning a wedding, I had never been so happy as I was when I tried on my dress after Beatrice made the first alterations. It was absolutely perfect and I couldn't stop smiling because of the wonderful job Beatrice did. She is so amazing!



At the second fitting, Beatrice mentioned again that I should think about busselling the train prior to the ceremony even though I had decided against that previously. She said she would add the ties where they wouldn't be seen and showed me how she would keep the integrity of the dress, so it wouldn't appear as if anything had changed. After the amazing work she had already done, I decided to trust her advice and have her add the ties and it's a good thing I did! I can't image what a hassle it would have been to hold my train during the entire reception!

Before I went to her place, I was very hesitate about the wedding dress I ordered. It doesn't fit me well. The overall look is disappointing.

I almost gave up the dress if not because that I didn't have enough time to shop for another one.

After I tried the dress on and she put some pins around, it totally changed. Beatrice really has the keen sight about dresses!

I just love the new look and the dress really brighten me up.

She understood that I need the dress very soon and she finished the alteration in 3 days!

Beatrice took my pretty but simple wedding dress and turned it into a unique, beautiful gown. She did all of the work in less than three weeks. She even made suggestions that added work for her without requiring further payment from her original estimate. My alterations turned into a gown re-design and she did perfect work. Beatrice's goal is to make you happy and she more than fulfilled my expecataions.

When I came to her I couldn't even zip the damn thing up. By the time she was done, not only did the dress fit comfortably (I could breathe!!!) but she did this beautiful redesign of the back. She's worth every penny as she has an amazing eye for design.
