Fantastic service

Short answer: Punctual, professional and very pleasant to work with. One year warranty on the replacement part and lifetime warranty on the labor. Most definitely know their stuff and wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Long story: My 10 year old Amana refrigerator/freezer stopped working on Friday afternoon (Fridge side was warm and in the freezer side the ice in the ice cube trays had thawed). After my wife called me to let me know it had stopped working I checked and saw the listing for Elmhurst Refrigerator Repair. I called in and asked to have a technician to the house. They said the earliest they could get a tech to my area was Saturday between 9 and 11 AM. This was fine with me, she had gotten the food out of the freezer and into totes in the garage (glad this happened during the winter!). The fellow on the phone gave me the name of the technician I could expect.

Scott arrived at exactly 10 AM on Saturday. He was very neat, professional and had a jovial personality -- I don't think I've ever met somebody who laughed that much during a house call. He was also very fast and good at what he did! In four minutes he'd checked the temperatures in the freezer and fridge side, determined the fan wasn't running and had already started taking the access panel off the back of the freezer. After he took it apart he said he thought he'd found the problem: the unit's terminator limit (controls the defrost cycle) had failed and the evaporator coil had started to freeze over. Scott also showed me that on Amana units the limit is in series with the fan and, if it fails, stops the fan from running (Amana is apparently the only brand that does this!). With no fan running, no cold air was getting into my freezer or fridge! He bypassed the terminator limit and the fan came on immediately. This was good enough for me. He quoted me the price, which seemed a bit high, but said he'd give a 50% discount because my evap coil didn't need to be defrosted which would save him time and work. A few minutes after I agreed to the quoted price he had the new terminator installed and the back panel all buttoned up again. The fan kicked on and cold air started blowing! There is a one year warranty on the replacement terminator limit and a lifetime warranty on the labor.

While Scott was there he looked at the seals on the door and fixed a problem he saw with a tear in the lower portion of the seal. He also recommended a schedule for cleaning the front grate under the unit to ensure proper ventilation.

All told I was very impressed by Scott's knowledge, how quickly he worked and how pleasant he was. I won't hesitate to call them again if I have problems in the future and happily recommend them to everyone in my area.

Hi I had this company come to ...

Hi I had this company come to my house. He was on time, very neat and professonal. He actually wore shoe covers at our front door. He got to work right away and explained in detail what was wrong and how much it would cost before starting. My fridge works great again.
