Maier's Bakery

Are you kidding? This Mecca needs a review!!? If you haven't tried the Heavenly creations from this bakery wonderland, you've not had the best. The store is tiny and plain-looking, but the wizards who run this Godsend churn out creations that will make your knees wobbly. Their coffee cakes are sinfully deliscious and the chocolate chip coffee cake, in particular, makes you feel so good that it should be considered a "controlled substance" by the government. Seriously, this place does baked good better than the others-by a large margin. And, after living in Los Angeles for the past 25 years and paying $15-$25 for a high-quality bakery coffee cakes, I started laughing when I was told that their coffee cakes cost approximately $5-$6. They also have wonderful bite-sized goodies, also at ridiculously low prices, which works great for brunches and teas so you can be sure all of your guests will be impressed. The only caveat-and take heed of this: DON'T WAIT TILL THE AFTERNOON, OR YOU RISK THEIR SHELVES BEING MOSTLY EMPTY!! But, since they open at 5 am, if you can't get there sufficiently early...well, your priorities are simply out of whack!!
