Overall

I have shopped at this location for years. They have an extensive inventory of clothing, accessories, décor, books, etc… that allow me to provide items for private customers, television shows, theaters, movies and musicians all over the world. It is a shame that I will have to drive to a further location to find inventory as if an issue arises there are not equipped with a manger or staff to take action.

I (and other customers) had to finish shopping there as there was a screaming elementary aged child there that was allowed to continue for a long period of time with no management intervention. I am not referring to a crying baby or toddler, a tantrum or other expected issues that are common place in a retail environment. I am referring to an older child repeatedly screaming with a high pitch shrilling scream without ceasing for a long period of time. The child was also kicking the inside of the cart over and over and it was obvious this child did not experience pain. The caretaker of this child was not addressing the issue and able to ignore it. Management was not addressing the issue and I made the mistake of addressing it.

Although I was diplomatic about it, this woman berated me by screaming and yelling profanities, insults and defamatory remarks while holding her other child who is a baby. To spare that baby from the trauma I kept trying to leave and she and her mother kept following me and yelling obscenities at me. One of them followed me back into the store to do this in front of the manager.

The staff completely supported the women who were doing this to me. When I tried to explain what happened, the manager and staff looked at me as if I am unreasonable or from another planet with blank stares and no words. It is disenchanting at best that I have donated so much and spent an extensive amount of money there and that is how I was treated.

I do not expect special treatment. However, I do not expect people who are berating and verbally assaulting me to be soothed and comforted by the same staff who will not acknowledge my presence or concerns as a customer.

I realize that in this day and age it is not “politically correct” to let someone know that their child is behaving inappropriately and disrupting business. I did not expect a positive reaction. However, I never expected the store where I have been a loyal customer and donator for years to treat me the way I was treated.

I will continue to patron the nearby Salvation Army and both Uptown Thrift locations as they treat customer’s right and appreciate my business. They would never tolerate customers who are friends of employees to disrupt other customers shopping experience.
