Dr. Smith received his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten. Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, is a method of obtaining images from inside the human body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are recorded and displayed as a real-time visual image. No ionizing radiation (x-ray) is involved in ultrasound imaging.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic tool that produces detailed images of the human body without the use of x-rays. These images are created using a large magnet, radio waves and a computer system to process the data. Procedures using MRI are painless and involve no ionizing radiation.

Dr. Wakefield is a board-certified radiologist by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Wakefield compliments our group in the areas of neuro and musculoskeletal radiology.
Mammography
Digital mammography uses computers and specially designed digital detectors to produce an image that can be displayed on a high-resolution computer monitor and transmitted and stored just like a computer file. The key role of mammography is in identifying a site of breast cancer early in its development when it is very small and often a year or two before it is large enough to be felt as a lump. These small cancers have a much better response to treatment and often require much less surgical or drug treatment. Mammography detects approximately two to three times as many "early" breast cancers as physical examination and is the best method for screening for breast cancer.
Computed Tomography
Computed tomography (CT) is a diagnostic tool that combines x-rays with state-of-the-art computer technology to produce images of the body. These images can show the solid organs, bones, vascular system and soft tissues in great detail. New techniques can even alleviate the need for interventional procedures. A CT scan is quick and painless and usually requires 15 minutes to complete. Our radiologists and staff are highly trained and dedicated to giving the best possible care to our patients.

Dr. Donald Dahlene joined the Radiology Group, P.A., in 1985. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Interventional Radiology and the American Medical Association. Dr. Dahlene is a board-certified radiologist by the American Board of Radiology.

Together, a PET/CT scan allows our physicians to view metabolic activity and pinpoint where abnormal lesions are located so that they may target the disease.
