She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American College of Cardiology. She is most passionate about primary prevention through dietary and lifestyle changes as well as electrophysiology. Darra enjoys educating and empowering patients to help them achieve individualized cardiovascular health goals.

Jessica joined our team with extensive experience in urgent care in the Dover and Wilmington areas. She also previously worked in family medicine in north central Pennsylvania before relocating to Delaware in 2018. Emergency Care
One June morning, Jacobo Moreta went to work like any other day, but there was nothing normal about the next 24 hours. The Wilmington resident wasn’t feeling well when he set out. When he still felt poorly midday, Moreta’s daughter called his doctor, who sent her father to Wilmington Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED).
Electrocardiogram
A 2D echo is a painless non-invasive procedure performed mainly in the Doctors office or in a hospital setting. An echo is an ultrasound test that uses sound waves to evaluate the structures of the heart. The test must be evaluated by a cardiologist to determine the condition of the chambers and heart valves and other structures of the heart. This test is performed by an echo technologist. Upon arrival for testing, the tech will take you to a room where you will be asked to disrobe from the waist up and lie down on a bed in the supine position (on your back). Three electrodes will be placed on the patient’s chest area and wires will be attached for EKG and heart rate monitor. The patient will then be positioned on his or her left side to begin the test. Most of the test will be done in this position. The other positions will be the supine (back) and right side if necessary. The total time of the test will vary. Usually forty-five minutes is allowed to complete each study. When the test is over, the technologist will wipe off all the ultrasound gel and ask the patient to put on their clothes. The reading is usually completed within 48 hours and results sent to the primary care physician but within a week.

Internal Medicine
Michael L. Shea, M.D. earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester and M.D. at New York University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He went on to subspecialty training including Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant management at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Cardiovascular Disease at Albany Medical Center in New York.

Ultrasound
An ultrasound of the veins in the arms and legs to detect deep vein thrombosis (DVT), i.e., blood clots, and/or phlebitis.
MRI
Besides Interventional and Peripheral skills, Dr. ElJazzar’s expertise includes Vascular Ultrasound, echo (including 3D-echo) and cardiac MRI. He is level-three trained in carotid and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm stenting. Dr.ElJazzar is performing interventional and peripheral procedures at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.

Darra is a Delaware native who graduated with honors from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Exercise Science. She also has an interest in liberal arts, and spent two years of her undergraduate career studying at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While at the University of Delaware, Darra worked with recovering stroke patients in the physical therapy lab and interned with Christiana Care’s cardiac rehabilitation facility. In 2016, she completed her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
