Milford Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides services to more than 50,000 residents and businesses of Milford City, Conn. It has various divisions, including administrative services, investigative, traffic, youth bureau, patrol, crime prevention, identification, marine patrol and training academy. The department s administrative division is responsible for the safe storage of evidences and recovered and found properties. It also issues gun permits, provides fingerprinting services, investigates serious and fatal motor vehicle accidents, and reviews planning and zoning applications. Milford Police Department operates a state-certified, recruitment officers training academy that provides instruction in search and seizure skills, constitutional law, patrol techniques, defensive tactics, motor vehicle laws, domestic violence, sexual assault, juvenile laws and narcotics investigation. It is also responsible for investigating crimes. Milford Police Department has a K-9 unit that supports the field operations of police.
