Joint replacement surgery is considered when there is severe pain or dysfunction in a joint, which can be caused by damage and wearing of the cartilage, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, trauma to the joint or even long term misalignment of the joint. Â When one or more of these things occurs, the joint that has been affected will be replaced by an orthopedic prosthesis that will allow more normal function, with far less pain.
Fibromyalgia
Even if you are not a runner, you may be experiencing an injury that could benefit from this versatile system. “What kind of injuries can be rehabilitated using the underwater treadmill?†you may ask. In addition to running injuries, the underwater treadmill can also be used to treat injuries like ankle sprains, fractures, ACL reconstruction, hip pain, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia. (For a more detailed list of treatable injuries, click here ). While the Hydro Track will not cure an injury, it does provide a low-impact method to sustain fitness and rebuild muscle strength, which can speed recovery.
Plantar Fasciitis
For the runners, The Hydro Track system can be used to treat most common running injuries, including Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, and generic knee pain. Should the runner need to recover from an injury or build endurance and speed, Miller said that underwater treadmills prove a great way to do either.

Plantar Fasciitis
Overuse injuries occur when repetitive forces are placed on the tissue causing inflammation and pain. Â Injuries that fall under this classification include plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. Â Web MD describes plantar fasciitis as the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, through excessive repetitive forces then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.
