Dental Examination
Regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays are all part of an effective prevention program. Other great preventive treatments include sealants and fluoride.
X-rays
Most patients who are healthy with no restrictions for undergoing minor dental surgical procedures and who also have good oral hygiene are good candidates for dental implants. Your dentist will assess the potential implant site to determine whether there is sufficient bone volume and gum thickness to allow placement of an implant. We begin by providing a clinical examination that will involve inspection, palpation, and gentle probing of the potential implant site and adjacent teeth. In straightforward cases, simple dental x-rays are usually sufficient to examine the bone. In more complex cases, specialized implant x-rays, known as tomograms, are usually required.

Teeth Cleaning
Professional dental cleanings are necessary at least twice each year to maintain good oral health. Many people require a routine cleaning three or four times a year due to buildup of plaque and tartar.
Fluoride Treatment
Dental Sealants
Sealants are thin plastic coatings applied in the dental office on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, which are prime spots for cavities. Sealants act as a barrier to prevent bacteria and food from collecting and sitting on the grooves and pits of teeth.

Fillings
A direct restoration means that the tooth can likely be restored in one visit and that there is sufficient tooth structure for the filling to go inside of the tooth. Examples of direct restorations are amalgam, which is silver-colored; and composite, which is tooth-colored. There have been more amalgam fillings placed worldwide than any other kind of filling, but tooth-colored fillings are being placed more frequently in recent years because they match the remaining teeth and look like the natural tooth.
Resin Composite
Composite fillings are also called plastic or tooth colored fillings. Getting this kind of filling depends on where the tooth is in your mouth. There is a lot of force applied to the back teeth when we bite, so size and location is important when deciding to use this type of restoration. To place this filling, we remove all decay and other filling material from your tooth. A bonding material is placed and then the composite resin is put into the prepared tooth in thin layers. Each layer gets hard with the help of a special light that we hold over the tooth to cure the material. When the last layer of the filling is hard, we shape the material so it looks and feels natural.
Gold Restorations
You will need at least two visits for a gold restoration. During the first visit, any decay or old filling material is removed, the tooth is prepared to accept a gold restoration, an impression is taken, and a temporary filling is placed.
Veneers
If the entire front of the tooth needs to either be repaired or cosmetically improved, one option is a porcelain veneer. A veneer, by definition, is an overlay with a thin layer of a fine or decorative material. We can change the color, shape, length, alignment and spacing of your teeth with porcelain veneers.
Crowns
This procedure is typically needed for one of two reasons; either cosmetic or restorative. Crown lengthening can cosmetically improve the smile line by eliminating the â€œgummyâ€ smile look. The restorative reason is to provide more tooth to be visible in the mouth so the tooth can be properly restored. When a tooth breaks off near the gum line or when decay occurs on the root surface, crown lengthening is needed to properly restore the tooth. Crowns and/or bridges cannot be cemented with the edge of the crown near the bone, which is why crown lengthening is needed.
Bridges
Fixed bridges are typically made from porcelain with a metal sub-structure and require at least two appointments to complete. The first appointment is used to prepare and temporize the teeth. The second appointment is the delivery appointment to adjust and cement the fixed bridge in place. Occasionally a third appointment is needed if the span of the bridge is long and the supporting framework for the bridge needs to be tried in before the porcelain is applied to the framework.

Root Canal Treatment

Whether it is a routine cleaning or a multiple appointment root canal, as a patient you will receive high quality dental care in a welcoming and relaxing environment. The compassionate treatment and professionalism provided by Dr. Lynch and his staff enable you to feel at ease. Dr. Lynch takes the time to thoroughly explain all available treatment options/procedures and address all of your questions/concerns. The hygienists, assistants and front office staff are polite and friendly often inquiring about your family, attempting to schedule appointments at a time convenient for you and following up a procedure with a phone call home to inquire how you are feeling. I will continue to refer my friends and colleagues to Dr. Lynch.
Apicoectomy
Vertical root fractures are not a very common type of fracture and usually occur in teeth that have had root canal therapy. If the fracture is very short in length, the tooth may be saved by performing an apicoectomy. This involves gaining access to the root tip within the bone and removing the part of the root that is fractured. The only other option is an extraction.

Deep Cleaning
We remove the plaque through a deep-cleaning method called scaling and root planing. Scaling means scraping off the tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planing gets rid of rough spots on the tooth root where the germs gather, and helps remove the bacteria that contribute to the disease.

Dentures
Complete or partial dentures can replace your missing teeth and give you the confidence to smile. Dentures can be used to replace teeth that have been lost due to trauma, decay, or gum disease. It is important to replace missing teeth, not only because teeth help with eating food, but because they help support the facial muscles and are critical for speech.

Dental Implants
If you are missing several teeth, implant-supported bridges can replace them. Dental implants will replace both your lost natural teeth and some of the roots.

Soft tissue ridge augmentations are performed to enhance the cleansability and aesthetics of a deficient site prior to its final restoration. During this procedure, an incision is made to expose the bony ridge. A soft tissue graft is then obtained either from a suitable site in your mouth and/or a soft tissue substitute and inserted into the area. The gum tissue is readapted over the soft tissue graft and sutured into place.
Bone Grafting
Catch 22 with dental implants is that you need bone to support the implant, but the reason most people need an implant is that they lost their tooth or teeth due to a lack of bone. In cases where there is a lack of bone, it is necessary to replace bone through bone grafting. Bone grafting procedures can be used to build up or fill in jawbone defects allowing the placement of dental implants. These techniques represent some of the greatest advances in modern dentistry.
