- Pet Pals Inc. opened its doors in 1990 to meet the need for quality pet lodging in Michigan City and the surrounding areas. Pet Pals is not your run-of-the-mill 'kennel' - we don't even call ourselves a kennel! We provide truly unique services as a provider of comfortable, high-quality lodging and a spa-quality grooming. You won't find guillotine doors leading to a cramped exercise area, or a cold, sterile environment where your pet is just an 'animal'. At Pet Pals your pet will enjoy spacious runs, hands-on attention by people who truly love what they do and enjoy spending time with your pet, and a fun, friendly atmosphere (we even play music for them!). When your pet is at Pet Pals, they are part of the Pet Pals family. The Pet Pals facility is an 8300 sq. ft. building that consists of our lobby, a retail area, 65 boarding suites in a variety of sizes, 8 multi-level Kitty Condos, and our grooming room. We are located on an acre of land, with individual exercise areas and a large, fenced play yard with plenty of room to play catch! Our staff has combined experience of over 46 years caring for animals - they are passionate about pampering for your pet!

- Our boarding services are cage free, all-suite runs that give your pet ample room to stretch out and relax. We board dogs, cats, birds, fish...we've even boarded a pot-bellied pig! During your pet's stay you can choose from a variety of options to keep them happy and content while you are away. We have everything you need for pampering your pet! Our grooming facility is top-notch, with modern equipment and lots of room to provide space for the groomers to work their magic, and also allow your pet to feel more at ease on the table. The tubs provide a deep, massaging cleaning that will leave your pet feeling and smelling great! Whether your pet is with us for grooming, boarding, or just to pick up a new toy, we will do everything we can to make sure your pet is excited to walk through our door. - Pet Pals is located at 10388 W. 400 N. in Michigan City, IN, conveniently off of Hwy 421/Franklin St. near I-94 exit 34B. From Hwy 421/Franklin St., turn west onto 400 N. Pet Pals is about a 1/4 mile down on the south side of the road!

- For our lodging guests, Pet Pals offers cage-free, all-suite boarding areas in a variety of sizes to suit every budget, pet size, or even pet family size! Our guests enjoy private, individual exercise areas and there are a number of 'a la carte' options to choose from to make the stay even more enjoyable. For our feline guests, we offer quiet, secluded, multi-level kitty condos. We provide high-quality Nutro Ultra food, three exercise times a day, and comfy bedding for ultimate relaxation! Our grooming clients can enjoy a day at the spa with a massaging bath, gentle blow-dry and brush, and a top-quality professional haircut. We have shampoos for every skin type (even skin that has met a skunk!). If your pet's shedding is causing you to tear your own hair out, let us use our FURminator De-shedding treatments to reduce that unwanted hair by up to 80%! Most importantly, when your pet is at Pet Pals they are treated like one of our own and will be given the caring, individual attention they deserve!

My dog day boards at Pet Pals, and he comes home happy every time. I have a terrier mix who can be extremely hyper, and the girls in the kennel handle him very well. They are patient with him,and willing to give him extra time during the day. He is so calm when he comes home,and what pleases me the most is how happy he is to go to the kennel every day. I had concerns about my dog getting more anxious in a kennel environment,but this has been a great decision to give my boy day care at this facility. Grover absolutely loves the girls there,so much I think he would enjoy being with them every day. Would recommend Pet Pals to anyone. The facility is clean,and the staff is so caring. They definitely keep my dog smiling with every visit!
I have to seriously question the competency and compassion of any business that would feed an 85 lb. Golden Retriever one cup of food daily, despite both verbal and written instructions to feed two cups daily. Total lack of concern when brought to their attention.
There is no lack of compassion and warmth for dogs at Pet Pal. There is, however, a serious lack of grooming skills and willingness to take responsibility for grooming disasters.
Our dear pet went to Pet Pals as a sheepdog; she left a freakish caricature of a poodle! Her massive broad paws were shaped into dainty points making her look as if she were on high heels. Her face was completely shaved. Her thick bushy ears became thin and stringy. The only benefit was that her expressive eyes were visible, yet we worried that this breed of dog is not accustomed to direct sun in the eyes.
When we notified the owner of our displeasure, she explained that the cutting has to be blended. Apparently, once they began to make her look like a freak, they had to go all the way. What kind of expertise do they have at Pet Pals? Clearly, it is insufficient.
We trust others will spare themselves the regret of having their dogs groomed by amateurs and then waiting months to recover the semblance of their old pet. We erroneously thought that in a month or two the damage would no longer be visible. That was a vain hope. Even after 6 months her ears barely look like a sheepdog's and her beard is stunted - and they may never return to normal. Her overall coat also continues to look sparse.
What a mistake to trust Pet Pals with the grooming of our dog!
Ive been going to Pet Pals for years now. I changed groomers due to an "issue" with a past groomer and Ive been taking her to Pet Pals I can see how she ENJOYS going to Pet Pals. I have had no problems with Pet Pals I love seeing how she really really loves going to the groomer. I now have 2 puppies and they always do a great job on my pups. They smell great look great nails clipped affordable. Staff is always so friendly.....my pups will continue to go to Pet Pals!!!
