Overall

I gave it one star because I couldn't leave 0 stars! I've seen 3 of these doctors over the years and they are all the same. Not interested in the patient! They don't care. They always have one hand on the door knob. After my latest botched surgery, I was told that this is the best my life will ever be - 20+ hours in bed every day, flat on my back. This forced me to find a new doctor and I'm glad I did! I am almost weaned off my pain meds and getting back to a normal life!

I’ve been wanting to send you a note thanking you for the excellent surgery you provided me almost 4 years ago. I’m sure you don’t remember me, but you operated on my back - spondylosis and sciatica. Before the surgery, I could hardly walk on my left leg and I was in so much pain. I really can't express how grateful I am for the outcome of my surgery. I made a full recovery and I am able to travel (not now) and do all the activities I wanted to do. I am so grateful I chose you to do my surgery. I am 72 right now and I have to thank you for making my life better.
Scoliosis Surgery
Fellowship rotations are hospital based, which limits the number of hospitals where the Fellow does in-house hospital rounds to one or two. Rotations include HonorHealth Shea, HonorHealth North Mountain, the East Valley, and at a surgery center. In general, rotations are 3 months, and working with 2 – 3 faculty. Summer months are usually on the Shea service to maximize exposure to Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis surgery during “scoliosis season”.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Our areas of spine specialization address the simplest problem to the most complex, from the easiest to the most difficult, caring for kids and adults of all ages. We strive to maintain nonsurgical care but have excellent surgeons if conservative approaches fall short of the goal. Surgical options range from minimally invasive surgery to the most difficult or revision cases.
Orthopedic Surgery
Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Surgery Residency: We routinely have a 4th year Resident and often have an Orthopedic Intern on the Spine Service. They participate in the weekly Spine Conference and there is teaching opportunity in preparation for the conference. The Fellow is not responsible for Resident teaching but has opportunity to participate. Surgery is not shared between the Fellow and Resident. Each is involved in their own case log and will be first-assisting their assigned Attending.
Neurosurgery
Successful completion of an accredited residency in Orthopedic Surgery or Neurosurgery by the start of the Spine Surgery Fellowship as recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Reconstructive Surgery
The clinical fellow will have the opportunity to have a heavily weighted experience in adult and pediatric deformity with extensive exposure to reconstructive surgery for deformity. A great deal of time will be spent learning the latest techniques in the care and treatment of patients with spinal deformity under the close supervision and mentorship of Drs. Michael Chang and Dennis Crandall.

It has been 6 months now since my surgery. I continue to work at my physical therapy 3x week. Hardly a day goes by that I do not think of you and my surgery. I am so very grateful for you. Thank you for your dedication and work. Doing better and getting fitter. I can even bend over...old lady but stronger and free of severe pain.
