Founded in 1851, the Meriden Fire Department operates through more than 100 firefighters and 5 career stations and serves over 60,000 residents. It offers various services that include fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services to the citizens. It manages the Fire Marshall s office, the Public Safety Dispatch Office and the department Training Division. The department responds to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, rescue, and aircraft and rescue firefighting. In addition to suppression functions, it provides technical rescue for the City and a First Responder Program. The Meriden Fire Department is affiliated with the city of Meriden. The department is located in Meriden, Conn.
