Sugar Services

This is my story after nearly 18 years of working as a driver for Sugar Services LLC. My dad had an accident killing my stepmother of 40 years. That was in June 2016. My dad was hospitalized too but recovered his injuries but left him in state of shock. He was 91 years old. My stepmother died within a week after accident. We buried her on a Sunday, one week before Father's day. I had to take a day off here and there to visit both in hospital and for her funeral. After we buried her I went back to work the next day. (Monday). During that week I ask David Moore (Operation Mgr/Dispatcher) that I need a few weekends off to be able to be with my dad, to take care of his place, my place, my sister's place as all the burden seem to be on her taking care of all. David said should be no problem. Come Friday we were dispatched for weekend work and he had me down to make a run to Murfreesboro, Tn., on Father's day, one week after burying my stepmom. I text and said I wasnt working that weekend. One text led to another and he pretty much said, "goodbye." I never said I quit and that can be confirmed by another operation manager through a sister company of Sugar Services because that was where i was when i ended my day that day. After the weekend I took off i tried talking to Dan Barton, the President of Sugar Services. Told him my story and at first he seem to be all on my side, saying how good of a job I have done all these years, etc. The problem started when Dan ask David about me and of course David bullied his way like he has done many of his employees over the years. Give David credit....he knows the business, outside of work he is a good guy, but at work it's his way or no way. David bullied Dan and Dan let him. Dan actually hired me to work for their sister company and i did work a partial day before David found out and I was gone from there too. Not a way to do business. And David would run us drivers into the ground, running illegal. Karma will get em'.
