Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, located in Memphis, Tenn., is part of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system. The hospital opened in 1979 and is a more than 700-bed tertiary care hospital. The emergency department has over 30 treatment suites and more than five fast track treatment rooms staffed by physicians for the treatment of adults. It also has a five-room pediatric emergency department staffed round-the-clock with in-house pediatric emergency physicians. In addition, the hospital houses the more than 15-bed inpatient pediatric center. It is also home to the Baptist Heart Institute that provides cardiovascular research and treatment for heart patients. The institute includes areas for cardiovascular procedures, cardiovascular surgical suites, heart catheterization labs, cardiovascular intensive care beds, a cardiac intervention unit, cardiac medicine units, electrophysiology labs, a cardiopulmonary transplant unit, and a cardiovascular step-down unit.
