General Info: GilCon and Associates was formed as a sister company to Goodea Construction and Pipeline Systems in 1996. GilCon is a partnership started by Mark D. Gildea and Roger L. Gildea, James Martin and Martin Schenker. Since its beginning, the primary focus of GilCon and Associates was in the private sector of the construction industry. In an extremely competitive market, GilCon utilizes a highly skilled, open shop labor force which enables us to provide cost effective construction services. GilCon specializes in commercial construction. Within this industry, GilCon has multiple areas of expertise, including: Commercial (Retail) Institutional (Banking/Financial) Industrial (Tooling & Light Manufacturing) Historical Restoration Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED). GilCon and Associates enjoys all of the benefits of the management team and the resources of both Goodea Construction and Pipeline Systems. Doane Hall @ Allegheny College - This was a two-phase project to totally renovate the art department at Allegheny. It included structural changes to the building, adding large skylights, new classrooms/studios, faculty offices and art gallery.

Waller Hall @ IUP - This project was to convert the former gymnasium (circa 1922) into the Department for Performing Arts. This project proved to be very complex, as it included interior demolition, exterior sitework, faculty offices, performance stages, dressing rooms and new audience seating.

Excavation
Over its many years of experience, Goodea Construction Company has developed a true expertize in concrete construction. The company self-performs all phases of concrete construction including excavation, reinforcing steel, forming, pumping and backfill. These projects include complex building foundations, mass concrete pours, water/wastewater tanks and equipment foundations. We own and are comfortable with several different “gang” type forming systems. On one particular project, Goodea Construction Company successfully completed a 1,200 CY continuously pumped pour in a cofferdam 20 feet under water.
Retaining Walls
Bicentennial Plaza @ Allegheny College - This project was to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Allegheny College. It included the removal of existing sidewalks and retaining walls. A new elaborate brick and cast stone retaining wall and plaza were built in the middle of campus. This area will serve for student gathering and for graduation ceremonies.
