Dr. Tsang is well-trained in all aspects of otolaryngology, but is particularly interested in otology (hearing loss, dizziness, chronic ear diseases, cochlear implants/implantable hearing aids, endoscopic ear surgery) and pediatrics (congenital masses of the head and neck, sleep disorders, allergy and immunology, breathing/swallowing disorders, cleft palate and speech disorders). I went to Dr. Mushtaq after an ER doctor referred me to him. ER doctors are typically very familiar with the competency of other practitioners because these doctors get to see all other specialties practice medicine when they are called in to the ER. Having worked in an Emergency Room for 10 years, I really exhausted my research and learned that Dr. Mushtaq is not only competent in ENT, but also plastic surgery. I have been suffering from allergies complicated by deviated septum. I had rhinoplasty 20 years ago by a different physician. After years of chronic sinus infections and many doctors, I saw Dr. Mushtaq. He not only showed me the root cause of my problems, but also corrected it. I strongly recommend this doctor to anyone with ENT or plastic surgery problem. I think to know if a doctor is good or not, you have to be a doctor yourself. I am not, but I have asked many ER doctors and got the same answer.

I had struggle for years with not being able to breath out of my nose and all of the side effects that come with that. (fatigue, lack of sleep, snoring, pressure, etc.) I had tried to masticate the problem about five years ago, but after getting a CT scan, an ent suggested I go see an allergist before considering surgery and dawn the rabbit hole of self-diagnosis. I went after a year of allergy shot, I still couldn’t breathe and I gave up. Miserable for years later, I found Dr.Mushtaq. My first meeting with him changed my life. I told him my tale and he said many people had that experience. So he had set up a one-step shop treating allergies and sinus surgery all in one place. After a battery of allergy tests and a CT scan, he was able to comprehensive diagnosis and plan of action. I started allergy shot and he performed sinus surgery. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. I can breathe. I didn’t even know what that felt like. It has changed my life. I`m so happy I found Dr. Mushtaq. I tell everyone about my surgery because it was so life changing, to feel relief all these years. I recommend Dr. Mushtaq to everyone I meet. There are a lot of folks out there who have allergy/sinus issue and don’t even know it. His synergistic approach is what everyone needs. I wish I had found him decades ago.

General Surgery
She feels our skin is a window to our health therefore taking a scientific approach combined with years of experience to ensure all options are explored for her patient’s individualized needs and concerns from non-surgical to surgical services.
Wound Care
Answer: Usually, there is “soreness” and “stiffness” described by the patients. You will be provided prescription pain medication, nausea medication and antibiotics. We will also provide medications to minimize bruising. Sleeping with the head elevated minimizes discomfort. Ice pack or cold wash cloth to the eyes and a vaporizer at the bedside are also comforting. For chin implants, you may have some tape around the chin which will be removed one week after the procedure. You will perform some incision care for the chin implant after the sutures are removed. There is no wound care for cheek implants. You will be given detailed instructions regarding care. You may bath or shower by the day after the surgery. You will be ambulatory during the immediate post-operative period however strenuous activity is discouraged. Avoid bending over or straining. You cannot lift anything heavy or perform any exercise or athletic activity for 3 -4 weeks. Most patients are able to go out in public within 2- 3 days with some camouflage make up for any bruising. You will notice swelling, irregularities, and some asymmetries however it is very subtle, and you should be able to interact socially without much concern. It can take several months to a year for the swelling to completely subside in order for the fine refinements to become apparent. Our aesthetician can give you advice regarding proper cover up.

Dr. Tsang is originally from the New York City metro area, but is well-acquainted with the DMV region, having attended Dr. Christopher TsangGeorgetown University for his undergraduate studies. He went on to receive his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He remained in New England for his otolaryngology residency, training at multiple hospitals including Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Rhode Island Hospital (Brown University), and Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard University). After finishing residency, he completed a one-year fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE.

Forehead lift and Eyelid surgery is the appropriate procedure for those with excess drooping of the brow or eyelid skin and fat can give a “tired” or angry appearance. Correction of this problem can be performed with both non-surgical and surgical techniques. Most people who wish to have eyelid surgery do not consider the entire eyelid and brow complex. It is important to note that correcting any droop of the upper eyelid or excess skin and fat without correcting the brow position can lead to an unsatisfactory result. Decreasing the distance between the upper eyelid and the brow can give a “squinting” appearance which is not aesthetic. Similarly, fat herniation in the lower eyelid appear as “bags under the eyes”. The problem can be corrected with a surgical procedure which has no visible incisions and can be performed in the office with local anesthetic and very little down time. A thorough analysis must be performed by your surgeon to determine the exact problem which will allow for designing the most effective treatment strategy. It is important to remember that changing the face by very small increments can result in dramatic changes in the appearance. A desirable result is one which allows the patient’s natural beauty to be enhanced while correcting any asymmetries or irregularities. Obtaining ideas from pictures of models in magazines can help you decide what is aesthetically pleasing to you; however, it is usually unrealistic to attempt to look like someone else. The job of a good surgeon is to understand your goals and to advise you, based on his assessment and experience, on the best procedure.
Liposuction
Facial implants are effective means of enhancing your facial skeleton which will also allow the overlying soft tissues to drape properly. Over the past few years, fillers such as Restylane and Radiesse have become very popular; however, these are temporary and will require repeated injections. Facial implants are permanent and do not require any maintenance. The most common location for facial implants are the chin and the cheeks. Implants can be inserted in other locations depending on your needs. The main question to ask yourself is specifically which aspects of your neck and face you would like to change. Implants are ideal for restoring proportion to the facial skeleton which can have a dramatic effect. For example, patients frequently think their nose is too “big”, when in fact, their chin is very small which makes the nose appear large. Similarly, individuals wanting to have liposuction of the neck to get rid of the “double chin” often have a significant chin deficiency which must be corrected in order to achieve best aesthetic results.

Forehead Lift
I went to Dr. Mushtaq back in February to look at my deviated nasal septum that I have been suffering with for about 35 years. The Dr. also recommended that I have surgery to straighten the tip of my nose (rhinoplasty), eyelid and forehead lift. I could not be more pleased with the results. A week after the surgery when the packing came out of my nose I could not believe how well I could breathe from my nose especially when lying down. No more nasal congestion and my nose looks nice and straight. I also elected to go with the skin treatments three times a week for about a month and that really helped with the healing. It has now been three months since my procedures and I look and feel great.
