Fire ants generally build their nest in soil that is located near structural foundations and in lawns. Mainly these Red Imported Fire Ants are found outdoors however they can enter structures through AC units.
Spiders
Most of the time black widow spiders spin their web near the ground and will often live in secure areas that are not bothered often such as boxes and firewood. Firewood is the main cause of black widow spiders in the home from wood being carried inside.
Termites
Eastern subterranean termites often have large swarms from January through May. Smaller swarms can occur throughout the summer and fall months. These eastern subterranean termite infestations and big colonies can collapse a building; their hard, saw toothed jaws allow termites to bite off small pieces of wood, one piece at a time.
Bed Bugs
Often mis-spelled as bedbugs they are small, wingless and nocturnal insects that prefer to feed on blood and warm-blooded hosts. They are also called Travelers Bug, Mahogany Flats, Red Coats and Chinches. Mature bed bugs have a flattened body which let them hide in inconspicuous places like behind baseboards, floor cracks, under carpets and behind loose wallpaper. They often go unnoticed and stay close together. (photo to the left courtesy of: StarMaster on Flickr )
Fleas
Fleas are annoying parasites which means they cannot live without a host; they feed on animal and human blood. Fleas can cause mild to severe itching. Fleas are often hard to eliminate and they are found everywhere in the world from yards, grass, sidewalks, parks, in homes and on animals; any animal that goes outside can pick up the occasional flea and sometimes they jump on humans.
Cockroaches
Asian Cockroaches are rural and suburban pests that can be hard to get rid of! According to the University of Florida as much as 30,000 to 250,000 Asian Cockroaches have been found on one acre of land. They are almost identical to German Cockroaches and that's where the similarities end. The only physical difference between the two is a small segment (about 1/8") in the abdomen and a small glad in the males. (photo to the left courtesy of: USDA.gov, Photographer: Barry Fitzgerald )

Ticks
Florida mice normally build their burrows inside larger burrows of gopher turtles; building a corridor off the main tortoise burrow. Adult female mice usually use two burrows going back and forth between two litters of baby mice. Occasionally two adult females share the same burrow. Most of the time, field mice eat crickets, ticks, fruits, seeds and berries (Info courtesy of wildflorida.com).

Mosquitoes
Flies
Some other pests such as stink bugs, wasps, tachinid flies and fire ants feed on Oleander Caterpillar larvae and pupae.
There is one major difference between hornets and yellowjackets. The term "hornet" means this pest nests above ground and the term "yellowjacket" means it has subterranean (underground) nests. All hornet and yellowjacket species live in colonies. These colonies can range in size from hundreds of hornets or yellowjackets to thousands which make them a "social insect."
Moths
The adult moths hide in shrubs and other covered areas during the day and fly low when disturbed.
Stink Bugs
Stinging Insects
Yellowjackets and hornets are the common name in North Central Florida for what most people know as "wasps," which are stinging insects. Both of their colors are generally black and yellow and some such as the Baldfaced Hornet are black and white. Yellowjackets (photo to left) are often mistaken for bees (which are smaller) and confused with hornets. A lot of our population is allergic to wasp venom which can lead to serious problems and can be lethal. (photo to the left courtesy of: Flickr user Bob in Swamp, Photographer: Bob Peterson )
