Unscrupulous, Dishonest Owner Who Keeps You Waiting.
I purchased a used electric vehicle from Ed's Transmission. The owner, Ray, assured me that they had checked the vehicle carefully, and were confident it was in excellent mechanical condition. He stated that I would be eligible for a free new battery from the dealer shortly (via the battery depletion warranty), which would double its driveable life.

The day I picked up the car, I stopped at my local Nissan dealer and was told, among other mechanical matters, that there were major problems with the vehicle due to rodent damage that made it unsafe to drive. And, these issues had been previously disclosed to Ed's Transmissions by their local Nissan dealer (Karmart) in Nov. 2017. Ed's Transmissions had declined to have the dealer repair them. The repair estimate to make the vehicle safe to drive was $3,963.20. The other repairs were another $1,363.10--almost doubling the purchase price.

Then I discovered that Ed's Transmission had misled me about the battery replacement. This warranty had expired in 2016. Purchasing a new battery, which I will need to do within 25,000 miles in order to still be able to drive the 15 miles to town and back will cost $8,150 at current Nissan prices.

I contacted Ed's & sent the estimate and relayed the battery issue. The owner insisted that the dealer was making up the problems--that Ed's had repaired them. I offered to take the vehicle to another mechanic for a double check (so I paid again for an estimate). Unsafe to drive condition was confirmed, yet Ed's refused to either help with the repairs or accept return of the vehicle.

He kept me waiting. He said he would deliver the car once my check cleared the bank. I called him after the check cleared (a Thursday morning) and did not hear back from him for four days. At that point, he was no longer willing to deliver the vehicle to my home--rather I had to meet him 12 miles away to pick it up--but not for another four days.

This is long overdue and I apologize. I own a VW New Beetle that isn't so new anymore. The transmission was going out. I took it to the dealership and was given an "outrageous " quote for the repair. After getting other quotes and being told "their shop does not work " on VW'S, a friend recommended Ed's Transmission . I called and spoke with a very kind young man who told me to bring my car in for a diagnosis. So I did. I believe his name is Andrew. He later informed me that they could fix it. Quoted me the amount. I was thrilled! Told him to go for it. Picked it up the following day. He informed me that they warranty the work for 1 year. My car is back on the road. Runs great! I would highly recommend this place. Excellent customer service! Thank you so very much!
