Dental Examination
The next step in your first visit is to spend time with our dental hygienist. A periodontal exam of your gums will be performed to determine the best cleaning plan for your teeth and gums. Most patients require two cleanings a year. However, if any signs of periodontal disease are present, we may recommend more frequent cleanings or gum disease treatment.
X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
Many of the symptoms listed above do not appear until the later stages of oral cancers. However, oral cancer screenings can detect early signs of tissue changes in the mouth that are still very small. Using a special light, these minor changes can be detected before they are visible. This is the best chance of catching mouth or oral cancers in the earliest stages when treatment has a higher success rate.

Teeth Cleaning
The first step in fighting infected gum tissue is a thorough dental cleaning. At the early stages, this can help reverse the onset of gingivitis. Removing the tartar from the teeth is vital to stop the growth of bacteria. In some cases, deep cleanings are needed below the gum line to remove tartar.
