Poor Richards Sandwich Shop

Food & staff were nice, but they got my order wrong. was still pretty good

Poor Richards is a tiny shotgun shaped Sandwich Shop located directly on the Manteo Waterfront that serves some of the best sandwiches on the Banks. Using Boar's Head and specialty deli items, Poor Richards feeds locals and visitors in the know inside their restaurant located in the historic Jolif building, or outside on a porch overlooking the Elizabeth II sailing ship.



Burgers, deli sandwiches, hot dogs, wraps, salads and subs highlight the menu, and a cup of homemade soup really hits the spot on a chilly day. On my first visit there I ordered Grilled Cheese on rye bread with homemade tomato bisque and didn't want to leave. Philly cheese steaks and NC pulled pork are also available. The grilled reubens, corned beef and cheese, knockwurst, pastrami and the ever-popular yet strange grilled cheese and sauerkraut are some of the favorite selections. A chalkboard boasts several innovative selections everyday; this is where the bargains are. On my last visit I ordered a beef and horseradish cheese wrap done in a sundried tomato wrap with lettuce, tomato and horseradish cream. Oh, my.
