Dowell Elementary School, established in 1999, offers education to students in grades kindergarten through five. Its curriculum includes reading and language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, computers and physical education. It also offers behavior and communication development classes and special education programs to students. The extracurricular activities offered by the school include performing arts and music, chorus and spelling bee. It also offers after school tutoring programs that include homework assistance and enrichment activities to students. The amenities provided by the school include a library, computer and science laboratory, music and game rooms and media center. Dowell Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 600 students and is affiliated with the Calvert County Public School District.
