I am a psychoanalyst and I work with these long-standing and deep-seated problems. Psychoanalysis or psychoanalytic therapy is not solution focused; not about giving advice or quick fixes and if you’ve been in therapy before you probably know that relief is only temporary. Those of us who work analytically are trained to listen hard to what is out of your awareness – what you may know as the unconscious. Saying whatever comes to your mind is how we access the unconscious. When I listen to what you say and try to say it back to you from a new perspective, you begin to hear your deeper repetitive patterns and self-defeating behaviors. Together, we begin to untangle dysfunctional thinking and related feelings.
