Overall
Rejected Service

I went to this doctor's office on a Friday because earlier that week, I was diagnosed with pneumonia at a First Assist. After having taken the medicine initially prescribed, I still was feeling terrible and wanted to make sure the pneumonia wasn't progressing into a worse stage. When I was young, I used to go to the Limestone Medical Center regularly. I went here on this day because it was ten minutes up the road, and I felt too terrible to drive any longer than that. However, since the company and the doctors had changed, I'm assuming outstanding records were also deleted.

I walked into the waiting room, where no one was waiting, and went up to the glass to set up an appointment. It was obvious that I felt terrible, I'm sure; I was pale, was bundled up even though it was 89 degrees outside, and I had a terrible pneumonia cough. I asked the lady if it was too late to make an appointment.

"Well...what exactly did you want to have done?" she asked.

"I was diagnosed with pneumonia earlier this week, and I don't think the medicines the doctors prescribed at the First Assist have quite done the job. I still feel terrible. I just want to make sure that it's not getting worse," I responded.

"Uhm...well are you a current patient?" she asked, with a doubtful, raised eyebrow.

"Not really...I mean, I used to go here when I was younger, and I wanted to start coming again because it's right up the road. I just feel so terrible and figured you all could help---"

"No ma'am, we're not a 'walk-in' clinic," she interrupted with a tone of near disgust. "We don't see people who aren't current patients."

"Well I understand that, ma'am, but I wanted to become a 'current patient' again here," I replied with a cough.

"We can't see you if you're not a current patient. Sorry," she repeated, louder. "Go home, give us a call, and we'll see if we can't get you in for a new patient session."

"Can't we do that today?" I pleaded, short of breath. "I really think I need to see a doctor today---"

"It doesn't look like we'll have an opening for a new patient session for about two more weeks," she interrupted, obviously getting annoyed.

"What? Two weeks?" I asked, amazed that she was saying this to a patient with pneumonia, when NO ONE was either in the parking lot or in the waiting room. I started walking out. "No thank you."

"You might try the First Assist again," she said with a laugh. "Or maybe an Urgent Care. They're the only offices I know of that would just see anyone right off the street."

I will never darken the doors of that building again. They've obviously changed over the years, and it's definitely not for the better. Good luck if you go here...but make sure you're a current patient first, or you'll waste your time!
