Virginia Place is a self-sufficiency program for single parents who are full-time students in a post-secondary educational institution. The program helps parents and their children develop educational and family life skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency. It offers housing, child care, counseling and support services. The program has a family services coordinator who assists clients to deal with personal and educational problems. Virginia Place organizes monthly workshops that focus on various subjects, such as parenting skills, budgeting, health maintenance and the legal ramifications of being a single parent. It features more than 75 two- and three-bedroom apartments. Virginia Place is located in Lexington, Ky.
