Especially for the price and hours of availability, this is a great place.I want to address the laboratous 2 complaints stating they are a "rip off." My experience is at Richmond Rd., but doubt there would be this much difference. Honestly the review complaining about their bill sounds very immature. The club gives members a contract, which you sign, that clearly explains the rules. Members must either send a certified letter or go into the club and fill out a form to cancel their membership.It specifically states that verbal notification is not valid. Having a hissy fit at the desk does not cancel your membership. You must fill out the form! If you do not do one of these things and wait six months to address the issue, yes, you will owe a big bill.

If, and i doubt it,they were going to give you some credit from your old balance toward your new sign up balance, you would have that on your new "Membership Agreement."

What I like about them, is that every detail is spelled out in that membership agreement, which should avoid any such confusion. By the way, they don't get commission! I would give them five stars except it is a bit crowded and lack some amenities, but really for the price it would be a five star.

While the membership fee is cheap, they have the best hours around for a non-24 hour gym, and their equipment is nice, they are a complete RIPOFF. My boyfriend let his membership lapse after a few months. Naturally they kept charging him for a few months. That's not the problem. About 6 months later we went in to take care of the overdue balance and start the membership again. Well, they told us since it had been so long we had to create a new one & didn't have to worry about the previous balance, so we signed up. A few days later, we signed it to work out and they told us we had a huge overdue balance! So we were LIED TO just so some little punk could get the commission. We paid about half to get in then the next day they told us we couldn't use the gym until we pay the rest. We stopped going, cancelled the second membership, but as usual they KEPT CHARGING US several months later. Now they're saying we owe over $200! I don't think so! THIS GYM NEEDS TO FIRE ALLTHE STAFF AND GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR A**ES. Horrible, horrible staff full od LIARS AND MANIPULATORS.

One of the worst experience I have ever encountered ! I believe that going to buy a car or having a root canal would be more pleasurable than trying to join this gym, at least the staff would treat you better. Spoke with an individual by the name of Chet,( a managing partner ), who was insulted by asking if they offered a discount a proceeded to insult me for even having the gall to ask for one.... Beware !!!

My family and I joined Fitness 19 and did pay a membership fee. I have never joined a club without it. We pay every month by credit card and have found no issues whatsoever. I've moved a lot, so I am well aware of how cancellations can happen, yes, I too have been charged after cancellation in the past, but I've learned to put it in writing, make a copy and have the person who took it from me, sign it. It is a no frills club, but for so little money, I wouldn't expect more. The staff is friendly, helpful and keep it professional. I had motivation to write this, now if I can get the motivation to go to the gym today!!!

My daughter and I joined fitness 19. After we did, we found out most of the members were only being charged 12 dollars a month. No other fees were paid. We paid nearly 100 dollars for some 1 year membership plus 19 dollars a month. Then we were coerced into paying for a trainer, another 100 dollars, because one really needed a trainer to know how to work the equipment, etc. blah, blah, blah and he was of no help. We decided to quit and join another gym that was cheaper. Fitness 19 kept charging our credit cards for two more months after we quit (this was a month to month contract). The manager that was suppose to handle the paperwork no longer worked there. After numerous calls, they finally took us out of the system, but would not reimburse the charges they faudulently charged. I would not recommend this facility unless all you have to pay is the 12 dollars a month.
