        From the outset, the history of LAPP Insulators Company has been one of using and extending the limits of manufacturing high voltage insulators. In the 1940s, LAPP developed insulators for aircraft and field radio communications, as well as complex components for newly developed radar systems. During the 1950s, LAPP entered the market of manufacturing high voltage bushings. Many patents followed as new insulator designs were required for higher system voltages during the 1960s and 1970s. LAPP s primary facility in LeRoy, N.Y., is housed in a grounded, metal-walled building containing an impulse generator rated 2.25 million volts at 28 kilojoules. The indoor laboratory has facilities for conducting partial discharge and radio influence voltage tests at a maximum of 600,000 volts to ground for corona measurement. Lapp maintains a secondary facility in Sandersville, Ga. The company was founded in 1916.
